Creating empty element groups

You can create as many groups on the canvas as you might need to describe the scientific context of your workflow.

  1. Create a new workflow in the Builder (for more information, click here).

  2. Click the Create Element Group icon in the left-hand toolbar.

  3. Click and drag a new group.

Add elements to your element group

There are two ways to add elements to your element group.

Drag elements from the Elements panel

  1. In the Elements panel, search for the element that you want to use.

  2. Drag the element into the group to which you want the element to belong.

3. Click the header of the element group to highlight the group and all of the elements within.

Drag elements from the canvas

  1. In the Elements panel, search for the element that you want to use.

  2. Click the element to add an instance of that element to the canvas.

  3. Click and drag the new element into your group.

Note: Synthace highlights the element and the group as you drag the element into the group. This indicates that Synthace is adding the element to that group.

Remove elements from your element group

  1. Click and drag an element from a group to remove it from the group.

Note: Synthace removes the highlight from the group as you remove the element from it. If you click the group header again, Synthace highlights the elements that still belong to that group.

Continue to Tutorial 1.2 to learn how to group elements that are already on the canvas.
