With the aim to simplify the DOE process, Synthace offers a handful of design types to get you up and running with your first DOE campaigns. However, other design options are available and offered by third party statistical software that you may want to try as well.
With Synthace, you can export your factor definitions in a couple of different ways and then import your calculated designs, to continue your execution journey in Synthace.
In this tutorial you will learn:
Export your factor definitions in the JMP scripting language (JSL), ready to automatically launch a custom design in JMP.
How to change design type choice in JMP.
Export your factor definitions as a csv file, ready to manually transfer to other third party software.
How to import a design calculated from a third party tool.
Getting started
Exporting factors as a JSL script
Once you have defined all your factors and their levels, click on the Export Design Factors dropdown in the DOE Factors table.
Select the JMP/JSL Format option.
Open the JMP/JSL file that you downloaded. This will launch the JMP software, if you have it installed and have an active license.
JMP will launch in custom design mode and the factors and levels you defined in Synthace will already have been copied over.
Choosing a different Design in JMP
If you would like to use a different design to the Custom design option, click on the red dropdown arrow at the top of the page and choose Save Factors.
This will save your factors to a factor table.
Click on the DOE menu, and select a design type you would like, in this example a Definitive Screening Design was selected.
Click on the red dropdown arrow at the top of the Definitive Screening Design panel and select Load Factors.
This will load the factors from your saved factors table.
Continue your design process in JMP as you usually would.
Exporting factors as an xlsx/csv file
Click on the Export Design Factors dropdown in the DOE factors panel and select either CSV or XLSX format.
Your factors will be exported in a simple table ready for you to manually transfer into your third party stats tool.
Use your third party stats tool to calculate a DOE design of your choice.
Export your design
Once you have finished creating a DOE design in JMP or another third party stats tool, export your design in either XLSX or CSV format.
Importing your design back into Synthace
Navigate to the Calculate Designs tab of the DOE Design panel, and select Upload Design from the design options.
Click on Choose File and select your DOE design file.
The factors from your design file will be matched automatically to the factors defined in Synthace if they’re named the same. Synthace will generate design diagnostics for your uploaded design.
If the factor names you used in your third party stats software do not match what Synthace is expecting you can manually match the factors using the dropdowns provided. Design diagnostics will only be calculated once all factors have been matched.
Well done for making it to the end of this tutorial.
