Competitor Keywords allows you to analyze your competitors' keywords and ASO strategies. This is a great place to find new keywords for your app and also to see how competitive your ASO strategy is.

Competitor Keywords is made up of 2 features:

  • Tracked Keywords

  • Shared Keywords

Tracker Keywords

With the Competitor Tracked Keywords, you get detailed insights into how your app performs in comparison to similar apps for your tracked keywords.

First, select the country you would like to compare competitors for. Then select which competitors you'd like to see.

In the Comparison table, you can see the following information:

  • Keyword: The keyword your app is currently ranking for

  • Search Rank: App Store or Google Play rank for that keyword

  • Metadata: How often that keyword occurs in the app store listing

  • Search Volume: The higher the search volume is, the more people are searching for that keyword in App Store or Google Play

  • Difficulty: How challenging it is to rank in the app stores for that keyword

  • Apps: The number of apps ranking for that keyword

  • Owner: The app that most often ranks #1 for that keyword

  • Live Search: See the real-time app store search results for that keyword

  • Track Keyword: Add keyword to your Keyword Tracking list

Shared Keywords

Shared Keywords allows you to compare 2 apps and see the ranked keywords they have in common and also those they don't share. So for example, if you want to know the keywords you're ranking for that your competitors are not ranking for, you can use Shared Keywords to find out.

What are the Benefits of Using Shared Keywords?

Shared Keywords feature is especially useful for keyword inspiration, and also brand protection.

  • You can start tracking the keywords your competitors are ranking for and you are not. That way you can implement them in the future.

  • On the other hand, you could find keywords that you are ranking for and your competitors are not. So you know you need to protect your rank for these keywords.

Where Do I Find Shared Keywords?

Shared Keywords is under Analyze --> Keywords --> Competitor Keywords --> Shared Keywords

How Does Shared Keywords Work?

By default, your app will be selected as 1 of the 2 apps to compare. To change the apps you'd like to compare, simply select a competitor from either drop-down menus in the top left corner.

The first dropdown will change the app on the left side, and the second drop-down will change the app on the right side.

If you don't find the competitor you would like to compare, just click on "Add Competitor".

You will get some competitors' suggestions from our AI. You can reject the ones that aren't similar to your app to train our AI. You can also directly add a competitor, by clicking on the "plus" icon or search for an app on the search bar.

Then specify the country you'd like to analyze the app store rankings for and click "Get Results"

After, you'll get a table showing the results. You don't need to be already tracking any keywords for them to be shown. That's also why this feature is a great place to discover new keywords to implement in your app store listing.

You can filter the list to see ranked keywords for just one app by clicking on the app icon.

You can also "Hide Unranked Keywords" in the Filter section.

If you would like to see the keyword arranged by another field, just click on the column name until you see the arrow up to have an ascending order, and the arrow down for descending.

The app with the higher rank for a keyword will be highlighted green.

Your results will show the following information:

  • Keyword: The keyword the selected apps are currently ranking for

  • Search Rank: The Apple App Store or Google Play Store ranking for that keyword

  • Metadata: How often that keyword occurs in the app store listing of the selected apps

  • Search Volume: The higher the search volume is, the more people are searching for that keyword in the Apple App Store or Google Play

If the 2 apps you're comparing do not share any ranked keywords, you'll get a message saying so.

You can also hide low search volume keywords on the right side in the Filter section, and export the table as a CSV file.
