Web Licensing: How It Works

Overview

Roof Wizard provides Web Licensing as standard. This system gives your organisation flexible access to the software — anytime, anywhere.

With an internet connection, users can access the software from:

  • The office

  • Home

  • Job sites

  • While travelling or on leave

Licenses are shared across your organisation, and you can run as many concurrent users as your license count allows.

  • Software can be installed on multiple PCs — the license is only used when the software is active

  • Automatically frees up when a user exits the software

This ensures the right tools are available to the right people at the right time — even across multiple sites.


Using Roof Wizard Without Internet Access

We know not all users have reliable internet all the time — so Roof Wizard includes an option to check out a license and use it offline.

The License Check-Out Tool:

  • Locks a license to a specific PC, so it can run without an internet connection

  • Ideal for:

    • Remote or field users with unreliable connectivity

    • Reserving licenses for specific users

    • Guaranteeing availability for key team members

  • Remaining licenses stay online for shared use across other users

Once checked out, the license is reserved exclusively for that device.



How to Register Your License

When you first launch the software, it will check for license registration.

If not yet registered, a dialog will appear. You can:

  • Run in ReadOnly mode, useful for viewing or printing jobs only

  • Or, register the software to activate full access

To register:

  1. Click Check IDs

  2. Enter your Company ID and User ID (found on your My Licenses page)

  3. If your user is missing, contact AppliCad to have them added

Once registered, you’re up and running.



ReadOnly Mode

If no license is active:

  • Roof Wizard enters ReadOnly mode

  • You can still:

    • Open existing jobs

    • Check details

    • Print reports

  • But you cannot modify or save jobs

Attempting to check out a license while in ReadOnly mode (or if no licenses are available) will result in an error message.



Tracking License Usage

You can track all your licenses in real-time via the Online License Manager.

To check license status:

  1. Log in with your email and password

  2. At the bottom of the page, view license usage:

    • Total licenses

    • Who is using them

    • Which are checked out

    • Which are still available

Example: If you have four licenses and three are checked out, the manager will show one still free to use.


Changing License Details

Need to change your Company ID or update a user?

  1. Open Roof Wizard

  2. Go to Help > About Software

  3. View or update your registration details
