Understanding the Interface

Roof Wizard’s interface is designed for fast, intuitive operation. It includes three main menus:

  • Pulldown Menu (across the top)

  • Icon Menu (down the left side)

  • Side Text Menu (optional, if enabled)

The most efficient way to work is through the Icon Menu, where the software’s main functions are grouped by the five core steps of a roofing job. Each icon leads to a focused set of tools related to that task.

Prompt Area – Your Command Guide

At the top of the screen, just under the pull-down menus, is the Prompt Area.

  • It tells you exactly what the software is doing or expecting at every step

  • Instructions are read from the bottom up

  • If you're ever unsure what to do next, check the prompt area first

Menu Types

Full vs Simple Icon Menu

You can switch between:

  • Full Menu – shows all available icons

  • Simple Menu – hides seldom-used tools

To toggle between them:

Go to File > Layout > Full or File > Layout > Simple

ReadOnly Menus

If Roof Wizard is installed but not yet licensed, it runs in ReadOnly mode.

In this mode, users can:

  • Open and check jobs

  • View client proposals

  • Print existing reports

But they cannot create, edit, or save jobs.

This is useful for installing the software on additional network computers for reviewing or printing only.

Common Menus and What They Do

Group Menu

These commands are available in most areas and let you:

  • Move a line or point

  • Stretch a shape (moving connected geometry)

  • Copy entities

  • Delete one or multiple items

Utility Menu

Also found in most functions, this menu includes:

  • Undo and Redo (multiple steps)

  • View > Select > ISO – switch to isometric view

  • View > Select > Plan View – return to plan/top view

Roofing Menu

The Roofing menu is the primary workspace in Roof Wizard and is organised around the five core steps of a roofing project.

Each button in the icon menu (e.g. Construct, Mod-Roof, Walls, Cover, etc.) opens a specific sub-menu with tools related to that phase of the job.

Here's how it works:

  • Construct – opens tools for creating roof geometry

  • Mod-Roof – contains roof editing and adjustment functions

  • Walls – handles wall geometry and alignment

  • Check – checks for modelling accuracy and detects conflicts

  • Cover – applies roof coverings and layout patterns

  • Estimate – generates pricing and quantities

  • Report – creates client-ready proposals and documents

  • Solar – tools for placing solar arrays and estimating output

When you click any of these icons, the right-hand menu updates to show detailed commands and options for that specific task.
