Overview

Roof Wizard is designed for highly efficient operation using a three-button mouse.
Once you're familiar with the controls, you'll be able to move quickly through commands and geometry input with minimal clicking.

This article explains what each mouse button does and how to use advanced shortcuts for zooming, snapping, and navigating your model space.

Basic Mouse Functions

Mouse Button

Function

Left click

Selects commands or digitises a point on the screen

Right click

Cancels, finishes, or aborts the current command

Middle click (scroll wheel)

Snaps to a point or line end, opens inline commands or help

It is strongly encouraged to use a mouse with a scroll wheel.

Zooming and Panning

The middle mouse button also gives you powerful view control:

  • Scroll wheel — zooms in and out

  • Hold middle button and drag — pans the job view

  • Double-click middle button — performs a Zoom > Fit-Screen

  • Ctrl + drag middle button — spins the model around the current viewpoint

These controls allow you to easily reposition or scale your view without navigating menus.

Snapping to Geometry

Snapping makes it easier to select exact geometry points.

  • Middle click — snaps to the end of a line

  • Shift + middle click — snaps and aligns to another line at the selected location

  • The cursor will now “jump” to nearby endpoints to help you place your pick box more accurately.

Why Use the Mouse This Way?

Using mouse shortcuts makes modelling faster and smoother — especially for large or complex jobs.

Once you’re familiar with these controls, they can save you dozens of clicks per job, especially when digitising outlines or adjusting planes.
