How to set up product swap automation
Updated over 3 months ago

Overview
Oftentimes, you may have a scenario where you want to swap the products, or product variations, in a recurring subscription order, due to product un-availability, customer preferences, etc.

To address these scenarios, Appstle Subscriptions provides its merchants with the Product Swap feature. While product swap can be done manually, (refer to this help doc), it can also be automated! This help doc will explain the automation process. An example use case for this would be if a customer has placed a monthly subscription order for strawberry ice cream, and if one month, there is suddenly a shortage of the strawberry flavor, the order would automatically swap to another flavor of ice cream that you choose. This helps retain your customers by keeping them happy, and also maintain your recurring revenue flow!

Functionality
To Enable the Automatic Product Swap, follow the below steps.

Step 1: Navigate to More > Automation Settings in your dashboard.

Step 2: Flip to the Swap Automation tab.

Step 3: Click Create Swap Automation in the upper-right.

Step 4: Once you are within the Product Swap Automation section, select the products you want to swap automatically under the 'Source Variants' and 'Destination Variants' boxes.

  • Source Products refers to the product or products that will be automatically swapped or replaced.

  • Destination Products refers to the product or products that will be replacing the old product.

Step 5: Once you have added the Source and Destination Products, you can choose if you want this product swap to be applied to just one delivery, or all the upcoming recurring orders/deliveries, using the toggle highlighted here.

Step 6: When you are finished, click on the Save button.
