In this article, we will review the steps required to integrate your Kisi account with Archie. Before starting these steps, we strongly suggest that you have already created an account in Kisi.

Step 1. On your Kisi Account

  • Log into your Kisi account

  • Go to the top right part of the screen, click your account name, and click my account

  • Click the API section, and click Add API Key

  • Enter the your username and password and click Add

  • Copy this key in a safe place, as you can't see it anymore.

Archie tip: You can proceed to create different groups and associate the doors needed in the Kisi portal; this will allow you to set the accesses in your plans in an easier way.

Step 2. Integrating your Kisi account with Archie

  • Go to "Settings / Integrations / App marketplace"

  • Locate the Kisi app and click "View Integration"

  • Click "Connect Kisi account"

  • Enter your API key generated in the first step and select the place

  • Click Connect

  • You will be redirected back to the Kisi integration

  • You are now ready to start using this app

Archie tip: If you change your Kisi password, you will need to create a new key and associate it again to Archie.

Step 3. Configuring your Kisi account in Archie

  • Go to "Settings / Integrations / App marketplace"

  • Locate the Kisi app and click "View Integration"

  • Click the "Configuration" tab

  • Make sure that the "Use Archie mobile app instead of Kisi app to unlock doors" option is enabled.

  • Optionally, you can enable the "Enable seamless access control with tap to unlock" feature. This will enable:

    • Tap to unlock: allowing users to open a door only by holding their mobile device up to a Kisi Reader

    • Tap in-app: allowing users to unlock doors by tapping within their app.

Step 4. Setting a door access to your plans, services, or day passes

In this step, we will be working with plans already created, for more information about creating a plan, you can refer to this article.

  • Scroll down to the Door access configuration field

  • Click the Add door access button

  • Select the Groups and/or Doors desired for this plan

  • Click Confirm

  • Click Save & Continue and click Publish & Finish

  • Same steps can be used to add access to your services and day passes

Archie tip: When a plan with a door access configuration is acquired, Archie will automatically link a Kisi account to the user.

Archie tip 2: When a plan is bought from a business account, by default all beneficiaries will be part of the plan, if this option is used, Archie will automatically link a Kisi account to all members of the business account. If specific beneficiaries were selected when buying the plan

Step 5. Setting a door access to your elements (room, office, desk)

In this step, we will be working with elements already created, for more information about creating an element, you can refer to this article.

Step 9. Enable "Tap to unlock" in Kisi

Native support for "tap to unlock" has been released in Kisi, allowing your customers to unlock doors using the Kisi mobile app with a simple tap via NFC and Bluetooth. To enable this feature, follow these steps:

  1. Log into your Kisi account.

  2. Navigate to the Configuration tab.

  3. Locate and toggle the "tap to unlock" option.

Enabling this setting will switch from remote opening to NFC tap to unlock.

Archie tip: Please note that all locks must have NFC and Bluetooth capabilities for this feature to function. A hybrid mode has been released which supports both locks with and without these features, this can be set by going to "Settings/Integrations/app marketplace", locating the Kisi integration, and going to the configuration.

Quick Troubleshooting Guide

Before starting any of the troubleshooting described below, make sure that the following steps are completed:

  1. Confirm the user has the latest versions of Kisi and Archie from the app store.

  2. Enable location services for both apps, the location setting can be set to "while using" if desired.

  3. Ensure Bluetooth is turned on for both apps.

  4. Check that background app refresh is enabled. We've noticed that in some cases, when background app refresh is off (often triggered by low battery power save mode), it affects app functionality.

  5. Restart the apps after making these changes.

if the access for a user is not working as expected you can fix this by:

  • Navigate to the account.

  • Click on the "Subscription" tab

  • Locate the desired subscription and click the three dots button.

  • Select "Edit Beneficiaries"

  • Delete the user experiencing issues and click "Confirm"

  • Click the "General" tab, and then click the "Door access tab"

  • Click the 3 dots button next to the Kisi account, and click Delete Kisi user

  • Go back to the "Subscriptions" tab, Click the three dots button next to the subscription, and select "Edit Beneficiaries"

  • Add the user back and click "Confirm"

If you receive an error with the code "bb5bbff"

When attempting to unlock a door from the Archie app, you may encounter the following error:

This error is related to a specific setting in your Kisi account. To resolve this issue, follow these steps:

  1. Log into your Kisi account.

  2. Navigate to the group configuration settings.

  3. Ensure that the "Kisi Reader Restriction" option is disabled.

When the "Kisi Reader Restriction" option is enabled, you can only unlock doors directly from Kisi. Disabling this option will allow you to unlock doors via the Archie app.

To prevent this issue from occurring with other groups, review the settings for all your groups and ensure that the "Kisi Reader Restriction" option is disabled in each one.
