Rhino Integration

Written by Mike Buss

Note: The Rhino Integration is currently in closed beta and not available to all users.

Getting started

  1. Find and download the Arcol Rhino plugin on the Food4Rhino store

  2. Ensure that the Arcol plugin panel is showing in Rhino. If it isn't, right click the right sidebar to open the plugins visibility menu.

  3. Go to the Arcol plugin panel and click the "Select Arcol project" button

  4. Log in to the project browser menu that appears and select the project you want to connect to the Rhino project

  5. Select one or more elements in Rhino and click the "Create Arcol Element" button. Choose whether the created element should be splittable or reference-only. In most cases you'll want to select splittable as those elements can be turned into Arcol buildings. Reference-only is typically used for things like grasshopper facades that you want to maintain textures for.

Bulk create elements

When using the "Create Arcol Element" button all selected elements in Rhino are unioned to create a single Arcol element.

The "Bulk Create Elements" button can be used to create an Arcol element per every Rhino element in the selection.

Updating elements

The most powerful feature of the Rhino integration is that you can make edits in Rhino and then push those updates to the linked element in Arcol.

To update an element after making changes click the "Update all" button in the Arcol plugin panel. Alternatively if you have multiple elements and only want to update some of them you can click the "Update" button beside the element name listed in the Arcol plugin panel.

Unlinking elements

You can unlink Rhino element from Arcol by clicking the "Remove" button beside the element name listed in the Arcol plugin panel.
