Discount coupon code is a personalized code that can be offered to your customers as a purchasing incentive that reduces the price of the order at the checkout phase.

If you are looking for instructions on how to create a discount that's activated automatically, click here>>

Important Note: Please keep the following information in mind before creating any new coupon code:

  • Discounts will expire at 12:00 AM CST on the selected expiration day. Keep this in mind when setting the expiration date.

  • You can create a discount for shopping cart items or for the shipping amount. Choose the option that best fits your needs.

  • If you delete a discount, it will be removed from all shopping carts (or products) that have added the coupon within 1 hour. If you want to expire a coupon quickly, deleting it is the best course of action.

  • The day after a discount expires (as long as the expiration date is still set to yesterday), at 6am CST, the coupon will be removed from any shopping carts (or products) that have the coupon added. This grace period is added to account for West Coast and Hawaii time zones, and to give customers a bit of extra time to complete their orders. After 8am CST on the following day, it is safe to change the expiration date. However, to be absolutely sure, it is recommended to delete the expired coupon and create a new one.

  • Only one coupon can be used per order, regardless of the type of coupon. Coupon codes cannot be combined with automatic discounts, and two discount coupons cannot be used together. Please keep this in mind when creating discounts for your customers.

Creating a new coupon code

  1. First up, we need to locate the "discount coupons/gift cards" section under the "Jump to:" menu.

  2. This section will allow us to create and manage our Discount Coupons and Track our sold Gift Cards. To create a new discount that we'd like to apply automatically, we need to click on the +ADD COUPON button.

  3. Next up is the coupon specifications section. Depending on the type of coupon we are creating, we'll need to select the correct options here. In this case, we are creating a discount coupon code, and we need to select "After the user enters in a Code" in the first drop down field.

  4. In the Code field you can specify the code which will be used at the checkout. We are going to use Metal25 in this example.

  5. Apply Discount To can be set to Shopping Cart Items or Shipping Amount.

  6. Allow Discount Based On is the last field and it has multiple options available:

    1. Quantities of All Items In Shopping Cart: This will apply to all items in the shopping cart, but with the ability to set specific quantities that must be met for each (i.e. Buy 3, get 10% Off).

    2. Quantity of Specific Products: This allows you to choose exact products from your website and make them discounted. For instance, you can set a minimum quantity for specific products, allowing you to promote or close out particular items.

    3. Quantities of Specific Product Types: This option will allow you to create a discount that can apply to a selected product types. Your discount can target Art Print Products, Live Art Show Products, Originals, Limited Editions, Standard Products, Polyptych Art Products, Art Cluster Products, Gift Cards and Self Fulfilled Calendar Products.

    4. Quantities of All Products Using Specific Media Types: This will allow you to set a discount for a specific media type. Maybe you want to offer a temporary discount on your canvas prints? (i.e. 30% OFF All Canvas Prints, or Buy 3 Canvas Prints, Get 30% OFF)

    5. Quantities of All Products Within Specific Stores: This will allow you to apply a discount to all products within an entire store. You can also require a minimum quantity. If you'd like to discount a specific set of items, this is the best way to do it.

    6. Quantity of A Line Item That Has The Same Medium(s) and Size(s): This is used for discounts on multiple items of the same size and medium type.

Please Note: A line item is a specific line item in the shopping cart. Therefore, when someone uploads a separate image and adds it to the cart, it is a different line item and the discount will not be aggregated based on all of them.

  7. Once you have selected the option you prefer, click on the NEXT button.

  8. Now that we have created our Discount Coupon Code, we can set up different specifications such as the discount amount, time the discount is valid and different conditions that need to be met before the discount becomes active.

The very first option will determine whether the discount will be active or not. Make sure the slider under Available is set to he preferred option (On/OFF)

  9. Code is where you can change the code customers need to enter if you find that it is an error or misspelling.

  10. Description is where you can enter a short description of what the coupon is for. In our example we'll mention that this coupon is for 25% off sitewide.

  11. The Day It Should Start Working (Starting At 12am) is the date on which you want your coupon to be available for use on your site.

    Screenshot_10.png

  12. Valid Through is the date on which you wish the coupon to expire.

Please Note: The end date is set for 100 years in the future. This is by default so a coupon is not set to expire on the same day. This can be changed to any date you would like.

  13. Minimum Cart Subtotal Requirement is where you can set a price that must be met before the coupon can be used. For example, you can create a 25% off site-wide coupon for every order above $100, in which case you'd enter in 100 in this field. Make sure to not add a dollar sign ($), as the system will add that automatically.

    Screenshot_12.png

  14. No. Of Redemption is the number of times this coupon can be redeemed by a specific contact (based on their email address) before they are prevented from using it again.

    Screenshot_13.png

  15. Coupon Type is where you can select whether you want the discount to be applied as a percentage or as a dollar amount.

    Screenshot_14.png

  16. Amount is where you will enter in either the dollar amount or percentage that you would like your coupon to be.

  17. When you are satisfied with your changes, click Save.
