Depending on how customized you’d like your website to be, you may want to edit your Product Gallery pages. These are the pages that you used to set up your home page and the subsequent categories therein. If you’re looking to add some text or a little more information about yourself to these pages, you’re going to need to learn the basics of editing information on a Product Gallery page. In this article, we’ll cover how to add basic information to any product gallery page on your site.

  1. Make sure you are logged in to your Art Storefronts Control Panel. This is sometimes called the back-end of the website or the Site Manager. All three mean the exact same thing. When you’re logged in, scroll down the page and find the item labeled Product Gallery that you want to edit and click on it.

  2. Before moving forward, you need to make sure you are on the tab labeled INFO in the product gallery. If you aren’t you will not see the information we’re discussing today and may not be able to complete this process or follow along

Please Note: From Product Gallery page type to Product Gallery page type, there will be slight differences between them, however, today we’re going to cover the BASICS that appear on each product gallery page. If you want information about specific Product Gallery pages, you should review the article How To: Use Product Galleries.

  3. At the top of every Product Gallery page, there is a section labeled Controls and, in that section, there is an option labeled Appears in Navigation Menu and this can be set to True or False.

  4. Password Protect is next. If you feel you need to put a Password on your page so general users do not have the ability to access it, you can enter a password into this section.

Art Storefronts Recommendation: We advise against the use of passwords on customer facing pages. You really are going to want your potential customers to be able to access your art. The only reason you should use a password on a product gallery page is if it is under construction or the page is for something like wedding photography and it is only for a specific family.

  5. The final options in the controls section is titled Billboard. This is where you can create a slideshow for the specified page. If you want more information on Billboards, please see How To: Use Billboards.

Art Storefronts Recommendation: If you’re editing a Product Gallery and you’re displaying Art on them, DO NOT use a Billboard. This just takes away from the art and makes it take longer to get to the art. Potential customers spend 3 seconds on a web page before they leave because they can’t find what they are looking for. Don’t eat up that 3 minutes with a billboard you don’t need.

  6. Next, there is a section on the page labeled Name. This is the name you gave to the page when you created it. If it is spelled incorrectly or is just plain wrong, you’re welcome to change it to something else.

    6.png

  7. Following Name, we have Headline Text. This text appears on your pages as the main headline of your content section. For the purposes of SEO, the code used for this is an h1.

    7.png

  8. The following section is Layout. Art Storefronts offers multiple layouts for its customers based on what they are looking for. We’ve explained them below:
Traditional- This is the basic layout offered on Art Storefronts. Each item is in it’s own box and they are evenly spaced out.
Clean- This puts the images into their own respective spaces, but instead of having the name appear below them, the name does not appear until you are hovering over the image. These are spaced evenly as well.
Collage with Masonry- This takes the galleries or images on your Live Site and arranges them in a collage. This works best when you have multiple categories or images (more than 3) and when your images are not all the same size or aspect ratio.

    8.png

  9. Display Titles can be set to True or False. This basically allows you the choice to show the name of the artwork in the gallery or turn off the names.

    9.png

  10. Display Teaser Prices can be set to True of False as well. This determines whether your pricing shows up before a customer clicks on an image.

Please Note: The price displayed as a Teaser Price is for the medium that you have selected as the default. It is also for the smallest size available on the specified medium.

    10.png

  11. After that, there’s the option to Display Artist Names and it can be set to True or False. This will show the name of the artist who completed the work. If you show the work of multiple artists on your site, this may be a good one to set to True.

    11.png

  12. Numbers of Columns follows, and this is where you can set the number of columns you want on your site. You can choose between 2, 3, and 4.

    12.png

  13. Then, you have a section titled Lead Content. The content you insert here will go at the top of the page, just before the main content on the page. It should be used when you'd like to have some descriptive text before a form, or if you'd like to describe a certain category of products to someone who lands on that page.

Art Storefronts Recommendation: We advise against having too much Lead Content on a page that is showing your Art. It goes back to the thought process we used for the billboard. Don’t make it take longer for a potential customer to get to your Art.

    13.png

  14. The final item is Ending Content. The content you insert here will go at the bottom of the page, just before the footer of the page.

    14.png

  15. If you make any changes to your page, you need to make sure you click the Save button, so you don’t lose your work.

Warning: DO NOT click the back button. You will lose all the work you just completed.
