Walkthrough
If you are a self-fulfilling Artist or you are a Print Studio and you are not using Breathing Color media you can create custom medium to fit all of your needs. If you are an artist using automated fulfillment, you will not be able to create or alter medias.
Log in to your Art Storefronts Control Panel and click on the Art Print Store or the Art Upload Store. We will be using the store titled Upload Store.
Click on the tab labeled Media.
Click on the button labeled Add Medium.
Provide the Media a Name.
Select a Default Medium Type.
Click Next.
First you will see a slider labeled Availability. If set to On the media will be offered on your site. If set to Off the media will not be offered on your site.
Our Name is where you can alter the name of the media if you need to change it for any reason.
The Item Code section can be used for things like a SKU number. Your customer will not see this.
Your Internal Identifier is here as a convenience for you, so you can distinguish different media types from others (particularly when you have several custom media types with the same name).
Use Default Or Custom Media Types is where you can choose whether or not you are using the provided medium types or a medium that you have created.
Medium Type is where you can choose what medium you are using. This should already be set, but if you find it is incorrect, you can change it.
Pricing has two sections, first we’re going to look at Type of Pricing. You can choose Smart, which calculates the cost by the square foot. You can also choose Fixed if you want to set a price for each size you offer.
Next is the section for Size and Price. You’ll want to enter your Sizes and Prices.
Size Restrictions is the next section and should be used with EXTREME CAUTION.
Available Sizes: In this section you can list all of the sizes that you would like to offer. If you enter ANY SIZES into this section, those are the only sizes that will be offered. In the case of an upload store, let's say you enter "8x10" in this field. This means that this media type will not appear UNLESS the person uploads an image that is EXACTLY an 8x10. Or, if you are using the cropping tool, they must crop to EXACTLY 8x10 size. Otherwise, this media type will not appear.
If none of your media types appear because they are all restricted, you will see an error that says “This product has no compatible media types,” because you have essentially restricted them all from showing. In the case of an art print store, let's say you enter "8x10" in this field. When someone selects this media type, and proceeds to select a size, they will only see 8x10 as option -- however with one major caveat. You must have 8x10 listed as an available size for that image in the first place.
As always, if you choose to use this field, the format should be entered as width x height (i.e. 8x10).Minimum Size: This is where you can enter the smallest size you want to offer for this Print Option. When a visitor selects a medium, it will attempt to display all the possible sizes for the given product they are viewing. This setting will filter those sizes. Any size that is smaller (in terms of the individual width or height) than the size you enter here will be removed, and will not display on your website.
Maximum Size: This is where you can enter the largest size you want to offer for this Print Option. When a visitor selects a medium, it will attempt to display all the possible sizes for the given product they are viewing. This setting will filter those sizes. Any size that is larger (in terms of the individual width or height) than the size you enter here will be removed, and will not display on your website.
Upload Image For Form is where you can upload a thumbnail of what the media looks like. This can only be 78px (width) x 37px (height).
If Available in other Stores is set to True, it means the media will be offered on all other Store pages on your Art Storefronts site. If it is set to Off, it will not be offered in any other stores.
Next you can enter a description of the media in the Tooltip Content.
Shipping Weights is where you will want to enter sizes and weights for the specified media if you plan on charging shipping costs based on weight.
When you are satisfied with your changes, click Save.
