What is Transit Insights by FourKites?
Transit Insights is a tool provided by FourKites that helps users understand and optimize their freight transit times by providing real-time benchmarking data.
What It's Used For
Transit Insights is designed to help shippers, carriers, and logistics professionals:
Compare transit performance: See how your transit times stack up against industry averages or specific lanes across the FourKites network.
Identify delays and inefficiencies: Pinpoint where shipments are consistently running late or underperforming.
Make data-driven decisions: Use accurate, up-to-date transit data to improve route planning, carrier selection, and customer delivery expectations.
Enhance supply chain reliability: By understanding where and why delays occur, teams can proactively address risks and improve service levels.
Example Use Cases
A shipper wants to know if their Chicago-to-Dallas lane is slower than the industry average.
A logistics manager is evaluating whether a different carrier might offer faster delivery times on key routes.
A supply chain analyst is building a case for investing in improved transportation planning tools using industry transit benchmarks.
How to Use Transit Insights
Begin by locating the Loads tab in your AscendTMS main menu and click on Transit Insights.
To view Border Crossing info, just click on any bubble you'd more detailed info on.
For example, if you click on the border crossing near San Antonio, the following screen will appear.
For more detailed info, let's click on the border crossing at Juarez.
The screen below shows the Border Crossing times from MX to US, and US to MX
To view Regional Insights that display truck movement rates / load volumes and Dwell Time within a specific state of region, start by clicking click on the Regional Insights button.
From there, you will see the option to toggle between Inbound or Outbound info.
Let's start with Inbound and hover over Illinois. From this view, you can see the Inbound Truck Movement is currently 1.39% below the 2 weeks moving average, and the Dwell Time is 4.31%. This tells us that load volumes and Dwell Times are down over the previous 2 week average (at the time of publishing this Help Guide).
By clicking on Outbound, you will see the same information for trucks leaving Illinois.
