Getting started with AscendAI Load Building is fast, flexible, and built right into the workflows you already use inside AscendTMS.

There are multiple ways to launch AscendAI depending on where you’re working

Click the Build AscendAI Load button

You can select either:

If you launch from the Build AscendAI Load or AscendAI Loads options, a sleek upload modal will appear, like the example shown below.

If you launch from Build a Load, you’ll see a large Click or Drag upload area directly in the middle of the screen — simply click to browse your computer or drag your shipment documents directly into the window.

Once your document is uploaded, it will appear as Ready for Load Creation. From there, click Start Load Creation and let AscendAI Load Building go to work.

In just moments, AscendAI begins analyzing and converting your shipment documents into load data automatically. You’ll even be able to watch the progress in real time as the conversion happens, OR, continue working on other tasks while AscendAI converts your documents(s) into load data in the background.

Once complete, your document will appear in the left-side panel, while the right side of the screen transforms into the familiar AscendTMS Load Building workflow — fully populated and ready for review, adjustments, and dispatch.

Once AscendAI Load Building finishes processing your documents, the real magic begins — transforming extracted shipment data into a fully structured load inside AscendTMS, ready for review, refinement, and dispatch.

As your shipment documents are processed, AscendTMS gives you a side-by-side experience designed to make load creation fast, accurate, and easy to review.

The left side of the screen displays the original uploaded shipment document exactly as it was received. This gives you a live reference point while reviewing the extracted data — making it easy to verify details, confirm accuracy, and compare information without constantly opening and closing files.

The right side of the screen is where AscendAI converts the information from your document into structured, usable load data inside AscendTMS.

Even better? The workflow will already feel familiar.

The five tabs shown on the right side mirror the exact same load-building workflow AscendTMS users already know and use every day:

Instead of manually typing everything from scratch, AscendAI Load Building intelligently pre-populates the information it finds — allowing your team to review, adjust, and complete loads dramatically faster.

Starting with the Load Basics tab, AscendAI begins matching information from your uploaded document(s) against existing data already stored inside AscendTMS.

Items such as:

can automatically populate if matching records already exist within your Ascend setup.

For example, shipment weight shown on the uploaded document can automatically populate into the load during the build process.

If certain information is missing from the document — no problem. You can manually enter or adjust anything directly within the workflow before finalizing the load.

Next, move to the Customer tab.

Here, AscendAI Load Building attempts to intelligently match the customer listed on the shipment document against existing customer profiles already stored in AscendTMS.

If a match is found:

If contact information is missing from the uploaded document, AscendTMS can instead pull those details directly from the saved customer profile.

No customer match found? No problem.

Simply click Create New to instantly create a new customer profile without leaving the load-building workflow.

If you already know which carrier will be assigned to the shipment, you can add them directly from the Carrier tab by clicking Add Carrier.

The carrier dropdown pulls directly from your existing carrier database inside AscendTMS, making assignment quick and easy.

Working with a brand-new carrier?

Just click Create New to build a new carrier profile on the fly without interrupting the load-building process.

When creating a new entity, a convenient slide-out panel appears, allowing you to create the carrier profile using the same familiar workflow Ascend users already know.

Once saved, the carrier immediately becomes available within the load.

The Stops tab works much like the Carrier workflow.

If pickup or delivery locations already exist in your AscendTMS location database, AscendAI will automatically attempt to match and populate those locations during the load-building process.

In many cases, several stops may already be fully recognized and populated automatically — saving even more time during data entry.

If a stop does not already exist in your system, simply click Create New.

If multiple address matches appear, simply select the address closest to the correct location.

Even better, AscendAI Load Building pre-populates the location details it extracted from the shipment document, helping reduce even more manual entry.

You can also add:

Once saved, the stop immediately becomes part of the active load build process.

Finally, move to the Financials tab.

If rates or financial details are listed within the uploaded shipment document, AscendAI can automatically populate those details into the load financials for review.

If financial information is not listed — or if adjustments are needed — you can easily add them manually during the build process or after the load has been created.

To add a financial item:

Click Add Line Item

Choose whether the item is:

Select the Company

Select the Category

Enter the Rate

Once you’ve reviewed and confirmed all details, you’re ready for the final step.

Click Build Load

AscendAI Load Building will instantly generate your load — complete with a load number and all the data you just reviewed.
