By integrating AscendTMS with MacroPoint, you unlock real-time shipment visibility, dramatically cut down on check calls, and keep your operations running smooth and efficient — without the constant back-and-forth.
In just a few quick steps, you’ll have MacroPoint working seamlessly inside AscendTMS, helping your team stay proactive, informed, and one step ahead on every load.
How to Connect MacroPoint to AscendTMS
Begin by selecting the Settings tab found on the left side of your AscendTMS screen
Locate the AscendTMS Plans, Features and Billing Details section, then select Add or Edit Load Tracking Settings
Send Integration Request to MacroPoint
Getting started is easy. To initiate the integration, you’ll first need to request access from MacroPoint.
This simply means reaching out to MacroPoint’s support team or your account representative to enable the integration for your AscendTMS account. Once that’s done, you’ll see the options below — just choose the path that best fits your setup and you’re off to the races. 🚀
Authentication
Once MacroPoint has processed your request, it’s time to connect the dots.
You’ll receive your authentication credentials from MacroPoint, which you’ll enter into AscendTMS to establish a secure, seamless connection. Once connected, you’re all set to start tracking and gaining full visibility across your shipments.
Select Your Integration Preferences
Once you’re authenticated, it’s time to dial in your preferences inside AscendTMS.
Here, you’ll configure things like your geo-fence settings, tracking intervals, and which email should receive tracking updates — giving you full control over how and when you stay informed.
If you’re a shipper, be sure to check the box labeled “For Shippers Only” (as shown in the screenshot below) to ensure everything is set up correctly for your workflow.
Send Your Carrier "Wishlist" to MacroPoint
To ensure you’re getting full tracking coverage, you’ll want to provide MacroPoint with a list of the carriers you work with.
This allows MacroPoint to match your preferred carriers with their existing network — helping ensure seamless, end-to-end visibility across all your shipments without any gaps.
Clicking the “Select Carriers” option will take you to the Search My Carriers screen.
From here, you can quickly search across your entire carrier network using the available filters — making it easy to find and select exactly the carriers you want to include.
Once your results populate, simply select the carriers you’d like to send to MacroPoint by checking the boxes next to their names.
Then, click “Send Selected Carriers to MacroPoint” — and just like that, your preferred carriers are ready to go for seamless tracking and visibility. 🚀
Once the selected Carriers have been sent, you will get a "Success" message, like the one seen below:
Map Your Truck Types to MacroPoint Types
To ensure accurate tracking, you’ll need to map your truck types in AscendTMS to the corresponding vehicle types in MacroPoint.
This standardization allows both systems to speak the same language — ensuring your fleet’s tracking data is interpreted correctly and categorized seamlessly.
Once you click the green “Map My Truck Types to MacroPoint” button, you’ll be taken to the “Edit Company Lists” settings page in AscendTMS.
From there, you can match your existing truck types to the corresponding MacroPoint vehicle types — ensuring everything is aligned for accurate tracking and reporting.
Once your truck types are properly mapped, simply click the “Return to MacroPoint Settings” button at the top of the page to jump right back into your MacroPoint setup in AscendTMS.
Configure Your Automated Workflow Engine (AWE) Rules
AscendTMS features an Automated Workflow Engine (AWE) that can automatically trigger actions based on tracking data from MacroPoint.
With AWE, you can create rules to automate key processes — saving time, reducing manual work, and keeping your operations running effortlessly in the background.
To dive deeper into setting up AWE rules, check out the Help Guide linked below.
That's it! 😎
Now that AscendTMS and MacroPoint are fully connected and configured, it’s time to put that integration to work.
In the next section, we’ll walk through how to enable MacroPoint tracking on your loads — so you can start gaining real-time visibility from the moment a load is booked. 🚀
How to Enable MacroPoint Tracking
Now that you’re fully set up with MacroPoint inside AscendTMS, you’re ready to start tracking loads using either the driver’s mobile device or an ELD.
As you build your load in AscendTMS, make sure you assign a carrier that is already partnered with MacroPoint. You’ll also want to include at least one of the following for tracking to initiate properly: a driver with a valid phone number, a power unit, or a trailer number connected to an ELD.
Once your load is built and assigned to a MacroPoint-enabled carrier, there are several places within AscendTMS where you can initiate tracking — we’ll walk you through those next.
From Load Management / View Loads
Right-click on the load and select Dispatch and Tracking from Shortcuts menu.
This will open the tracking options screen in AscendTMS, where you can initiate and manage MacroPoint tracking for that load.
From Within the Load
From within the Load screen in AscendTMS, locate the green Load Actions bar. Hover over Dispatch and Tracking, then click Dispatch and Tracking.
This will open the tracking options screen in AscendTMS, where you can initiate and manage MacroPoint tracking for that load.
From here, you’ll have several options to customize your tracking setup.
This includes configuring your Tracking Settings, and — if the load is temperature-controlled with an ELD — setting your temperature thresholds and tolerance ranges for more precise monitoring.
All of these options are shown in the screenshots below.
Once you’ve sent the load to MacroPoint using the “Send Load to MacroPoint to Enable Tracking” button, you’ll be able to view the current MacroPoint load status directly within this window.
As the load progresses and is dispatched, these updates will also appear in the Load Log in AscendTMS, alongside other real-time tracking events — giving you full visibility every step of the way.
View Tracking Data from the Load Log
You can access MacroPoint tracking data directly within the Load Log in AscendTMS — either from Load Management (View Loads) or from within the load itself.
From Load Management / View Loads
Right-click on the load and select View Load Log with Map.
From Within the Load
From within the Load screen in AscendTMS, locate the green Load Actions bar. Hover over Load Log, then click View Load Log.
Both options will open the Load Log in AscendTMS, where you can view real-time MacroPoint tracking updates alongside key shipment events.
Below is an example of the Load Log with Map, showing MacroPoint status updates along with the driver’s GPS location plotted directly on the map — giving you a clear, real-time view of your shipment in motion.
MacroPoint Active Carriers Column (View Carriers)
Once MacroPoint is fully integrated and you’ve sent over your carrier wishlist, you’ll notice a new “MacroPoint Active Carriers” column on your View Carriers page.
This column gives you instant visibility into which carriers are connected with MacroPoint — keeping you informed at a glance.
The available statuses are outlined below:
The yellow clock indicates that the carrier has been selected in AscendTMS and is currently queued to be sent to MacroPoint.
In other words — it’s in progress and will be synced shortly.
The blue checkmark indicates that the carrier has been successfully sent from AscendTMS to MacroPoint.
They’re now connected and ready for tracking and visibility.
The green checkmark indicates that MacroPoint has confirmed the carrier is part of their partnered network.
This means the carrier is fully recognized and ready for seamless tracking within AscendTMS.
