Making a grant using your DAF account.

Updated this week

Explore the Giving Page

From the homepage, click on "Give" in the left-hand navigation menu.

Use the search bar on the Explore Charities page to filter charity results:

  • Search over 1.8 million charities

  • Flag your favorite

  • Start a giving campaign

  • Explore different causes to support

  • While searching for a charity, you’ll be able to view all the necessary information, including the name, address, and EIN number.

On the Explore Charities page, you can also view your favorite organizations and discover new charities via personalized recommendations, all based on your giving activity and the causes you selected to support.

By scrolling to the bottom of the Explore page, you’ll find the "Browse by Cause" section. Clicking on a specific cause will take you to a page featuring a variety of organizations that support that cause—helping you find charities you may be interested in donating to.

You can access other causes from the top right corner of this page.

Submitting a One-Time Grant

Making a grant to charity through your AssetMark Charitable Donor-Advised Fund (DAF) is a simple and tax-efficient way to give. Here’s how the process works:

  1. Navigate to the Give tab. Use the Search Bar, browse Favorites, or Explore new charities within the platform. Once you have selected your desired charity, click on the charity card and select Give, displayed on the top left.

For quick grants, you may also utilize to the "Make a Grant" option in the left-hand menu and enter the charity’s name directly there.

  2. Enter the One-time Gift amount, gift submission date, and enter a Purpose for your grant.

  3. Ensure the gift is NOT used for personal gain such as:

    • Tuition

    • Membership fees

    • Dues

    • Admission to charitable events

    • Goods bought at auction

    • Organizational pledge

    • Lobbying

    • Political contributions

If you enter any wording that includes restricted language, a red pop-up will appear prompting you to make a change.

  4. Once you click "Complete," you’ll be taken to the "Review and Confirm Your Grant" tab. Check the box to certify that the grant submission complies with the AssetMark Charitable Program Guidelines, and select whether you'd like the grant to be sent anonymously.

If you notice that the address listed on the platform is incorrect, simply click “Spot an error? Help us stay up to date” to notify us—this helps prevent the grant from being sent to the wrong address.

Scheduled Grants

You can set up a recurring grant by following the same steps used to create a one-time grant.

When selecting the frequency for your grant, choose Recurring and configure the following details:

  • Start date

  • End date

  • Frequency

Recurring Grant Configuration Options

Recurring grants support the following frequencies:

  • Monthly

  • Quarterly

  • Annually

All recurring grants require both a start date and an end date.

If you would like the grant to continue indefinitely, we recommend setting the end date far in the future.

Timing Recommendations

If you want a grant to arrive around a specific date (for example, the 15th of each month), we recommend scheduling the grant to initiate around the 1st of the month.

This allows time for processing and delivery:

  • Paper check: up to 2 weeks

  • ACH (electronic transfer): about 1 week

Managing Recurring Grants

Once a recurring grant has been created, you can view and manage the series from the View My Recent Grants section of your account.

To keep your transactions page uncluttered, only the next scheduled grant in the series will appear.

To view full details for the recurring series:

  1. Navigate to View My Recent Grants

  2. Click the details card for the recurring grant

Editing or Canceling a Recurring Grant

To modify or stop a recurring grant:

  1. Open the grant details

  2. Select Edit

From there, you can:

  • Update the grant amount

  • Change the grant frequency

  • Modify the end date

  • End the recurring grant series

Charity Donation Activity

On the charity detail page, donors can view any family activity on that charity as well as aggregated metrics showing the total YTD and Lifetime grant quantity and dollar amount.

Edit a Charity Image

On the charity detail page, donors can upload any image they desire to represent the charities they care about most. While on the charity detail page, click the Add a Photo button to select and upload an image from your computer, which will lock that image in for the charity only within your login (local to you, not to anyone else).

Accessing Your Grant History

To check your grant status, go to your Home screen and click on "Recent Transactions" in the top left corner under your fund balance. Once clicked, you'll be able to see a full list of all your grants.

From here, you can:

  • View all recently submitted grants along with the status of each grant

    • You can also cancel a grant that has been submitted but not yet processed.

  • Managed Scheduled Grants to edit the grant note or delete the grant

To filter by date, use the "Select Date Range" bar to view the grants within your chosen timeframe.
