Seed targeting and blacklist force or forbid the algorithm to bid on a list of keywords and / or products for a given ASIN. This is helpful if you already have a list of keywords and targets you know you want to bid on. Although not necessary, It can help speed up the learning phase for Astra's AI.
For each strategy, the algorithm automatically collects keywords and products. Then it puts them in different campaigns. It starts their optimization if it is a ACOS optimization strategy.
For a given ASIN, you can :
Force the algorithm to bid on a list of keywords and products. That is the seed targeting. The algorithm will bid on these keywords and products for the ASIN you set them within each automated campaign created on the strategy level.
Forbid the algorithm to bid on a list of keywords and products. That is the blacklist. The algorithm will not bid on these keywords and products for the ASIN you set them within each automated campaign created on the strategy level.
On Amazon, blacklist keywords and products are known as negative
Do not confuse with tactics that work on a segment and are applied to a product group. The tactic is privileged upon the seed & blacklist keywords.
For example, imagine you added a seed keyword (e.g. "powder") to an ASIN, added the ASIN to a SP strategy (e.g. "SP cosmetic"), and create a blacklist tactic into the SP strategy (e.g. "blacklist keywords") in which you also put the keyword "powder". The seed keyword on the ASIN level would force the algorithm to bid on "powder" for the strategy "SP cosmetic" but the tactic "blacklist keywords" overwrites it. In the end, the algorithm does not bid on the keyword "powder" for the ASIN.
Seeds Limits
You can include up to 25 seeds for product targeting and up to 50 for keyword targeting per ASIN.
How to define seed and blacklist targeting?
You can set seed and blacklist keywords and products in Product Tab > Catalog in 2 ways:
Click on the - button and type them
Import them as a CSV or from an excel file by copy and paste
