Manage and add new buildings for your portfolio.

👍 This article will help you:

  • Navigate your buildings to view dashboards, profiles, points, and more

  • Add or edit a single building

  • Add or edit multiple buildings at once

To access Buildings, go to Buildings on the left side menu.

📘 Building dashboards, profiles, points, and more

Select a building from the grid or table to access building data and other important information. Then, select the tabs located below the building's name: Dashboards, Profile, Points, etc.

Add new buildings

To add a single building or multiple buildings, select the 'Add a building' button.

Add a single building

Select 'Add a single building'. Provide all required information under Building Details and Area. Optional information may be provided at a later time. When finished, select the 'Create building' button at the bottom of the page.

Add multiple buildings

Select 'Add multiple buildings'. Then, use the Batch Building Upload tool to upload a CSV file of all your new buildings at once. Download the buildings template CSV file provided, and enter each building's information in the required format in your preferred CSV editor.

Add buildings CSV template contains the following fields:

Field

Description

displayName

The building's name. Each name should be easily distinguishable from other buildings.

type

The building's type, such as office, school, or government facility. See here for a full list of available building types.

manualPointsOnly

TRUE indicates your building will contain manual points ONLY (includes batch uploads).

FALSE indicates your building will contain automated points (utility bills, real-time meters and sensors, API, etc.)

Address

The building's street, city, and state/territory.

countryCode

The building's two letter country code

postalCode

The building's postal code. Postal code is used to determine the nearest weather station.

area

The total building area in square feet. Area can be used as a normalization metric.

highestFloor (optional)

The number of floors in your building.

occupancy

The building's average daily occupancy. Occupancy is used to calculate per person values and baseline models.

yearBuilt (optional)

The year your building was built

vendorBuildingId (optional)

A unique ID that you use to identify your building

In addition, you have the option to add additional column headers and input data if you'd like to create any Estimated electricity or natural gas points. Learn more

When finished, select the 'Upload CSV' button at the bottom of the page.

A banner at the top of the page will inform you that the upload is processing and to await an email that will indicate whether the upload was successful or not. If any errors were detected in the file (ex. unidentified postal code, incorrectly spelled building type), then the email will have a "errors.csv" attached detailing the issues. You may use this same file to fix the errors and re-upload the file.

Edit buildings

To edit a single building or multiple buildings, go to Buildings. To facilitate batch edit actions, switch to 'Table' view at the top right of the grid of building photos.

Use the Search or Filter to narrow your selection to a subset of buildings to edit. Select the desired buildings using the checkboxes at the left side of the table, then select Actions > Edit buildings.

If editing fewer than 500 buildings, then you will be taken to a batch edit page, where you may select or enter information across multiple fields. These same fields are available on each building's Profile page. When finished, select 'Save buildings'.

Edit buildings: CSV

If editing more than 500 buildings, then in the Actions menu, select "Edit building CSV." This will take you to a page, similar to the Batch Building Creation page, where you can download a CSV, enter building information you'd like to edit, then re-upload it.

The Edit buildings CSV contains four fields that are not included on the Upload CSV (see above):

Field

Description

uuid

This is Atrius' unique identifier for your building object. If this uuid is edited or removed your edits may fail or be pointed to the incorrect building object.

estimated_electricity

estimated_natural_gas

principalActivityType

Create or edit estimated energy points. Learn more

❗️Deleting a building cannot be undone

Deleting a building will remove all point data, bill point data, and metadata related to the building. Before you can delete a building, you must first remove the association between the building and any points or bill points: Go to Points and Bills, select the point(s) and bill point(s) displayed, then change the Building field on the corresponding point or bill point profile pages.
