Creating and uploading the template

To access the Batch Point Creation app, go to Apps > Batch Point Creation

Step 1: Select your integration.

  • Manual Points (recommended): This integration allows manual data uploads with granularity as low as 1 minute. The data points will not count toward your license.

  • Atrius CSV: This integration will allow you to upload data via an automated CSV push, and the points will count toward your license.

Step 2: Download the point creation template.

Step 3: Open the template and enter your point information.

  • Building Name (required): Enter the building name exactly as it appears in Atrius.

  • Point Display Name (required): Enter the display name you will use to identify your point.

  • Point Type: Enter the Atrius point type associated with your data. (ex. Electricity)

  • Source Unit: Enter the unit in which data will be entered. (ex. kWh)

If using a Atrius CSV template, there are two additional columns:

  • Vendor Unique ID (required): This field may be used to link your point to any other organizational or system unique id. (Tip: If you don’t have a unique ID to use, enter a numbered concatenation of the point name ‘electricity_hvac_1’).

  • Vendor Unique Location ID: This is an additional, optional, unique ID field.

Step 4: Upload your completed template.

  • Ensure your file is saved in the "Comma Separated Values (.csv)" format.

Step 6: Upload CSV and validate your entries.

  • After you've uploaded your file, you will be taken to a new page, where you can correct any errors or set additional attributes for your points using dropdown options.

Validating the point details

On the validation page, the table will display the information you already entered in your uploaded CSV file. You may use this page to correct any errors or misspellings.

The table also displays additional dropdown fields for you to set in order to complete the point creation. To edit in batch, use the checkboxes and Actions menu. See below for a description of each field:

Field

Description

Building

The existing building in Atrius to which your point is intended to monitor.

Atrius display name

The point's full name. Examples:
- Electricity Use
- Electricity Use, Floor 1
- Solar PV Production

Data type

A high level categorization of the point's data type. This field will determine what Point type category and Point type options are available in the subsequent fields.

Point type category

Another level of categorization for the point type. This field will determine what Point type options are available.

Point type

The type, or resource, of the point (ex. Electricity, Natural Gas, Water). Point type determines the available reading type and unit options displayed below.

Source unit

The unit of measure used by the point's source system. Or the unit in which you will be manually uploading data

Display unit

The unit of measure in which point data are displayed in the Data Manager. Note: In dashboard cards, you may choose other display units, regardless of what is set on the Point's profile.

Reading type

Reading type determines how incoming readings are processed.

Totalizer: Total amount incremented since the point was installed or reset (e.g., kWh or gallons). Atrius determines interval consumption by calculating the delta between consecutive readings.

Bi-directional totalizer: Total amount incremented or decremented since the point was installed or reset (e.g., kWh or gallons).

Interval consumption: Time-based consumption readings (e.g., kWh or gallons).

Interval demand: Specific average interval demand, readings. Also known as rate (e.g., kW or gallons/hour).

Instantaneous measurement: Point-in-time readings (e.g., degrees Fahrenheit).

Source resolution

The expected resolution of the incoming data. For example, if data is being pushed at minutely intervals, select 'High resolution.' If data is received on a daily basis, select 'Daily'. If you are uploading monthly bill data, select 'Monthly.'

Point scope

Point scope determines whether a point represents an entire building or only a portion of a building.

Whole building: The point represents the entire building. Only one Whole building point may be specified for each point type, for each building.

Sub-point: The point represents only a portion of the building.

Hidden: The point should not be displayed in dashboards and apps.

📘 Editing point details

If you submitted your points for processing, and there are still additional edits you'd like to make, navigate to the Points page and use the Actions button to make edits on one or more points. All of these fields are viewable on the Profile tab of each Point.
