Respondents taking a survey built with Attest will always be given the option to 'skip' a question, irrespective of what sort of question it is.

You can toggle answer options including 'None', 'N/A' and 'Other' on and off depending on the question you ask, whereas the 'Skip' option appears on each question and can't be turned off.

While the Attest platform is built to make surveying an easy, enjoyable process for those gathering consumer insights, it's also built for the survey respondents, so that they can have an easy, enjoyable time answering surveys, and therefore be more likely to give honest and high quality responses.

There are many reasons a respondent might want to skip a question, not all of which you can account for beforehand while you’re drafting the survey. The question might not apply to them entirely, even though you predict that it does. Otherwise, they might not understand the question and so not want to offer an inaccurate response. Allowing respondents to skip questions allows for the highest quality data.

While we do allow people to skip questions we understand that there is a tipping point where respondents skip so many that they become an unengaged audience. We have identified a percentage of questions skipped that indicates an unengaged respondent and use quality checks to qualify those people out of your survey. This threshold makes sure that you only receive answers from people who are engaged with your questions.
