In the first phase of collaboration within the Atticus platform, there are four unique roles: Owner, Co-Writer, Editor, and Beta Reader. In this post, we’ll explore what each of these roles mean and what accessibility levels are available to each role.
Owner
The Owner has full control over the project and thus access to some features not available to any other collaborators. The owner of a project is the one who uploads the original manuscript into their Atticus account and/or starts the new book from scratch. They will be able to access all Atticus features for writing, formatting, and exporting.
Each of the following roles will need to be Invited to the project by the Owner, and their access can be removed at any point, at the decision of the Owner.
Co-writer
Co-writers have direct access to the text as an author for the project, along with some access to Writing Editor features. They will not have access to any of the formatting features and they won’t be able to delete/move Chapters, or add/move Scenes. Their access will be limited to:

An Editor‘s role focuses on refining content through tracked changes in the editor and comments. They will be restricted to specific features within the Writing editor:
