Why am I seeing a message that says your session has expired?

Updated over 4 months ago

The message 'Your session has expired' typically appears when your login token, which is a security measure used to authenticate your access to our platform, reaches its expiration period. In our system, login tokens are set to expire every 90 days for security reasons. This means that after 90 days of inactivity or continuous usage, your login token is automatically invalidated as a safety measure to protect your account and personal information.

To continue using our platform without interruption, you'll need to log back in by entering your credentials. This re-authentication process generates a new login token, providing you with renewed access to your account.

If you’ve been using Atticus regularly within the last 90 days, keep in mind that logging out regularly provides various benefits:

  • A Clean Slate: Logging out ensures that each time you use Atticus, you start with a fresh session, much like restarting your computer to clear background processes.

  • Automatic Backup: Each logout triggers a synchronization of your content with the server and exports a JSON file backup of your entire account, which can be used for content restoration.

  • Added Security: Regular logouts prevent unintended access or modifications to your work when others use your device.
