I understand your frustration with the lag in the print preview feature, and I apologize for any inconvenience caused. Generating a fixed-layout document, such as a PDF, involves a more complex rendering process compared to eBooks. Each element in the document depends on the proper placement of preceding elements, making it necessary to generate the entire PDF each time.
Leaving the print preview enabled while making changes can indeed cause increased lag, as Atticus continuously renders the book anew with every modification. To mitigate this issue, we generally recommend keeping the preview set to iPad view unless there is a specific need to check the formatting or layout in the print view.
By using the iPad view, you can work more efficiently in Atticus without the added delays caused by continuous rendering in the print preview mode. This allows you to focus on your writing and formatting tasks without interruptions.
