If you've ever tried to click on any hyperlinks in your exported PDF and find that they aren't clickable, this is completely normal and your links aren't broken.
PDFs Are Print-Ready Files
PDF book files created in Atticus are designed to be print-ready, meaning they are formatted specifically for print to ensure there are no issues when you send off your book to be published. Since the PDF is designed to be printed as a physical book, hyperlinks are not made live or clickable because they can't function as active links on a printed page.
If you decide to include links in your PDF, we recommend using a “pretty link” (or short url) typed out on the page that users can easily copy or including a QR code they can scan with their phone.
Want Clickable Hyperlinks? Use the ePub Export.
If you need clickable, live hyperlinks in your book, you can export it as a ePub instead. Hyperlinks created in Atticus are fully live and clickable in the ePub version, which is designed for digital reading on eReaders, tablets, and apps.
We hope this helps!
