How to Move a Resident to A New Room

How to change a current resident's room

Written by Sarah Weinstock

The original Move-In Date and Financial Start Date should not be changed when a resident is being moved into a new room.

Step 1:

Navigate to the "Details" tab of the residents' chart.

Step 2:

Click on the primary room in the room box.

*If the resident has a secondary room, the primary will always be listed above

Step 3:

Enter all required information on the room change. Then click "Add Room" to complete the room change. The effective date can be scheduled for the current day or a future date.

Definition of the different room types
Please review the differences between each room type and when they should be applied:

  1. Private:

    1. One resident in a single room

    2. One resident in a double room (and they are paying for both sides)

    3. One resident in a room, where they have a roommate they know, and the primary resident is paying for the entire cost of the room

  2. Shared:

    1. Two residents (who typically do not know each other) each pay for their own rent

    2. If the second resident moves out of the room, the room is at half occupancy (Both beds are expected to be filled at all times)

  3. 2nd resident:

    1. A second resident in a room where their roommate is known and the roommate who is identified as private is paying for the entire cost of the room, the 2nd resident often pays a 2nd resident fee/rent

    2. If the second resident moves out, the room is still at full occupancy
