If you lose internet connection while logged into the eMAR, the system will automatically switch into “Offline Mode” so that you can continue to chart the med pass. In the event of a major storm or planned outage, we recommend that you keep a tab open on your med pass computers logged into the eMAR at all times.
If you lose internet connection at a time when you are not using the eMAR, you can use a hotspot device or tether from cellular data to navigate to the eMAR and resume charting. At that time, if you’d like to conserve battery or if there’s a weak connection, you can always turn off the hotspot and continue charting in Offline Mode.
Please refer to your internal policies and procedures regarding the use of a hotspot or cellular data to access the internet when WiFi is down.
Anytime that you chart in Offline Mode, we strongly advise you to reconnect to the internet if possible at the end of the med pass to sync all the data. If you can’t gain internet access at that time, please remember to find any device used in Offline Mode and login to the eMAR as soon as you regain an internet connection.
Follow the steps below to ensure Offline Mode data syncs:
Open the device that you used to chart meds in Offline Mode
Reconnect to the internet
Open up the eMAR and then the data will sync
Repeat the three steps above with all computers or devices that were used in Offline Mode to chart medications
Please note that medications will not sync if you just log in to the EHR. You need to click on the eMAR button to open the eMAR at which time the sync will take place.
