Create clips from audio and video files in Aurelius and make highlight reels from those clips.

You can now create clips from audio and video files in Aurelius to capture key moments from user interviews, usability testing and more. Then, you can create highlight reels from those clips to create a story of the most important parts of your research.

Creating Clips in Aurelius

Once you've uploaded an audio or video document into your project you're able to create clips. There are a few ways you can do this:

1 - From transcribed notes

If you transcribed the document that you want to create clips from, you can quickly create a clip from any note from the transcription. Just go to the notes page of your project and the note group where the transcription is. Find the note or part of that transcription want to create a clip from and click "create clip"

Aurelius will automatically take the start and end time of that part of the transcript so you can quickly create a clip.

2 - From the document view

When viewing any document that has audio or video, you'll see a button to "create clip". You can then drag the sliders for start and end time (or type them in manually) and save your new clip.

What you can do with Clips

Once you've made clips in your project you can work with them in several ways.

  1. Add tags

  2. Search them by keyword or tags, even across projects

  3. Add them to highlight reels

  4. Add them to key insights

  5. Add them to your project report

  6. Search clips by tags or keywords in the name from Universal Search, All Tags or Project Tags pages

You can do all these things in a few ways...

  • selecting multiple clips at once and using the action bar for bulk actions

  • using the kebab menu on each clip

  • going into the clip view mode

When you add clips to a key insight, it will be added to the key insight detail page along with any other notes or documents.

When clips are added to collections and reports they will be playable and viewable when shared with anyone, even as a read-only live link.

How to make Highlight Reels in Aurelius

To create a new highlight reel, simply go to the documents page of your project and click "Add Highlight Reel"

Then you can give your highlight reel a name and description (optional)

What you can do with Highlight Reels

Once you've made a highlight reel(s) you can:

  1. Add clips from multiple documents into your highlight reel

  2. Change the play order of those clips in the highlight reel

  3. Tag highlight reels

  4. Add highlight reels to Key Insights

  5. Add highlight reels to Collections

  6. Add highlight reels to your project Report

  7. Search highlight reels by tags or keywords in the name from Universal Search, All Tags or Project Tags pages

To re-order the clips in a highlight reel, simply open the highlight reel, toggle "reorder clips" to active, then drag and drop your clips into the order you like:

You can also tag highlight reels so they are findable by any tags you add. You can do this in bulk or using the action bar by selecting the highlight reel(s) or using the "add/edit" tags on each highlight reel:

Highlight reels can be added to Key Insights, Collections and Reports in multiple ways too by either using the action bar (blue bar after selecting an item) or the kebab menu:

Sharing Clips and Highlight Reels

You can share clips and highlight reels by adding them to your project report or collections.

Once you've added them to a report, they will be viewable and playable by anyone you share that report with:
