Proper weather planning is essential for safe and successful drone operations. With AutoPylot+, you can access advanced weather tools that help you analyze conditions before takeoff. This guide walks you through how to use AutoPylot+โ€™s weather features for informed flight decisions.

Weather forecasts are only available up to 10 days before a flight.

Weather Summary from Flight Checklist

Before starting a mission, AutoPylot+ provides a weather summary directly in your flight checklist. This quick overview includes:

  • Current temperature at your flight location.

  • Precipitation type and chance.

  • Wind speed & direction, temperature, and precipitation.

  • Gust speed & direction, temperature, and precipitation.

This summary ensures you check essential weather data before launching your drone.

Mission Summary From Flight Checklist

Windy Map Layer

The Windy Map Layer gives you a real-time visual representation of wind and precipitation patterns. It allows you to:

  • See wind speeds at different altitudes to determine safe flying conditions.

  • Identify potential turbulence areas that may affect stability.

  • Track precipitation in real time to adjust flight plans if needed.

  • You can use the slide at the bottom to adjust for different times and dates.

Mission Weather

The Mission Weather feature provides a detailed breakdown of weather conditions at your exact mission location for the exact time/duration of the flight. This includes:

  • Weather conditions, including sunrise, wind, humidity, cloud cover, etc.

  • Hourly and 10-day forecasts with your time of flight highlighted.

  • 10-day forecasts with your flight date highlighted.

This section gives you a mission-specific weather outlook so you can plan accordingly.

How to access mission weather from the flight checklist

Hourly Forecast

The hourly forecast allows you to see weather conditions throughout the day with:

  • Temperature and wind trends for each hour (by sliding the forecast).

  • Visibility and cloud coverage icons to ensure clear skies for safe flying.

  • The hours that overlap with your time of flight are highlighted.

This feature is especially useful for missions that take place over multiple hours or require precise timing.

Mission Hourly Weather

10-Day Forecast

For long-term planning, the 10-day forecast helps you pick the best days for flying. You can:

  • See daily weather trends up to 10 days in advance.

  • Identify optimal flying windows based on stable conditions.

  • Plan missions around low chances of precipitation, optimal temperatures, and clear skies.

This feature is ideal for scheduling future operations and avoiding bad weather days.

Weather Graphs

AutoPylot+ also provides detailed weather graphs to visualize trends in:

  • Access weather charts by tapping on any day in the 10-day forecast.

  • Select any day to see a detailed overview of 8 different weather variables.

  • Drag your finger along the graph to get hourly info on any weather variable.

  • Easily tap on any weather variable at the bottom to chart it.

These graphs give you an in-depth understanding of weather conditions at a glance.

Changing Your Mission Time from the Weather Page

If weather conditions arenโ€™t ideal, you can easily adjust your mission time directly from the weather page:

  1. Open the mission weather section.

  2. Select the time adjustment option at the top of the screen.

This allows you to adapt to better conditions without starting over with your mission planning.
