AutoPylot’s Windy Map Layer helps you better understand flight conditions by displaying wind speed and precipitation overlays at different altitudes and times.
Here’s how to access and customize the layer:
Step-by-Step Instructions:
Open the Airspace Map
Launch the AutoPylot app and navigate to the airspace planning screen.
Tap the Wind Icon
On the right side of the map screen, tap the Wind Icon to open the Windy Map Layer.
Choose Altitude (30 ft or 300 ft)
Tap the “30 ft” icon to toggle between surface-level wind (30 feet) and flight-level wind (300 feet). This helps you plan for conditions closer to takeoff or cruising altitude.
Switch Between Wind and Precipitation
Tap the Wind icon again to toggle between Wind Speed and Precipitation views. This allows you to check for potential weather hazards like rain or storms.
Move the Time Slider
Use the slider at the bottom of the screen to view forecasted conditions at different times and dates. This helps you plan ahead by seeing how wind or precipitation patterns may change throughout the day.
