FAQ - Why can't I see timesheet categories while logging time?

There may be several reasons why timesheet categories are not visible when logging time. Let's take a look at the various scenarios:

  • Newly Created Timesheet Categories Not Visible

So you just created new timesheet categories but are not able to view them in your existing projects while logging time. Why would that happen?

That could happen if you did not check the option to 'Add to existing Projects' while creating it. This checkbox ensures that this timesheet category gets added to all of your existing projects, therefore, allowing you to use it while logging time on any existing as well as new projects.


If you didn't check the 'Add to existing Projects' checkbox, what you will need to do is go to each of the Projects' Settings and add it manually.

You can do this by going to Project Edit > Timesheet Categories > Add Category.

Click 'Add Category' >. Select Existing Category.

  • Existing Timesheet Categories Not Visible

So you have existing timesheet categories but they are not visible when you are trying to log time. Why would that happen? There could be two reasons for this:

  1. Timesheet Category not set as Default

    The timesheet category is not set as default and therefore, does not automatically get picked up when a new project is created.

    To add it to all new projects being created, you can set it as default by going to Settings > Timesheet Categories > Category Details > Check 'Is Default'.



    To add it to existing projects, you can go to each of the Projects' Settings and add it manually. You can do this by going to Project Eidt > Timesheet Categories > Add Category.

  2. Timesheet Category Disabled

    The other reason for timesheet categories not being visible could be that they are disabled. You can confirm this by going to Settings > Timesheet Categories > Category Details > Verify if 'Is Disabled' option is checked.
