Overview
SpringIQ: Fit Score is part of AwardSpring's SpringIQ intelligence suite. It lets administrators evaluate applicants based on how well they align with a scholarship's goals using a structured scoring rubric. Instead of only filtering applicants by qualifications, Fit Score helps rank and differentiate students based on qualitative and preference-based inputs.
Enabling Fit Score
To use Fit Score, enable it at the scholarship level.
Navigate to the Scholarships tab
Select a scholarship you want to add a Fit Score to
Locate the SpringIQ: Fit Score tab option
Check Enable SpringIQ: Fit Score
Once enabled, you can begin configuring the inputs that will contribute to the score.
Configuring Fit Score Inputs
FIT Score can pull from any application data point. This includes:
General application questions
Before Applying additional requirement questions
That said, Before Applying questions are especially useful because they allow you to capture scholarship-specific identifiers early in the process.
Step 1: Identify What You Want to Measure
Start by defining what "fit" means for your scholarship.
Example (Unity Scholarship):
Community service involvement
Leadership
Unity and inclusion impact
Measurable outcomes
Step 2: Map Questions to Those Criteria
You can use a mix of:
Existing application questions (e.g., service hours from the general application)
Scholarship-specific questions (before-apply or supplemental)
Fit score is effective for matching students based on preferences that aren't hard qualifications.
Step 3: Build a Scoring Rubric
Create a rubric with clearly defined criteria and scoring levels. Each criterion should:
Align directly with your questions
Include detailed descriptions for each score level
Use fixed point values are encouraged
Note: Scoring scale is set to 100 points

Reviewing Fit Scores
Once applications are submitted and scored, Fit Scores can be reviewed in the Award & Deny workflow.
Step 1: Navigate to Award & Deny
Go to your scholarship
Select the Award & Deny tab
Step 2: Expand an Applicant
Click a student record
Expand the application details
Navigate to Applicant Summary
Adding Fit Score as a Column
To quickly compare applicants, you can display FIT Score directly in the Award & Deny table.
In the Award & Deny tab, click Columns on the right
Search Fit Score and add the data point
Add SpringIQ: Fit Score to the visible columns
Apply changes
This allows you to:
Sort applicants by FIT Score
Compare alignment at a glance
Note: Fit Score can also be added as a data point in Smart Reports
Frequently Asked Questions
Is Fit Score the same as Summary Score?
No. SpringIQ: Summary Score is a score for each applicant based on their overall profile—the same score regardless of which scholarship you’re viewing. SpringIQ: Fit Score is scholarship-specific: it evaluates how well that applicant fits the requirements of a particular scholarship and will differ across scholarships.
Can I enable Fit Score for some scholarships and not others?
Yes. Fit Score is activated per scholarship, giving you full control over which scholarships use it.
Will Fit Score automatically award or deny applicants?
No. Fit Score is purely informational. It provides a data point to help your team make more confident awarding decisions but does not take any automatic action on applications.
Will Fit Scores update if a student changes their application?
Yes. Fit scores automatically recalculate when a student’s relevant responses are updated.
