Special Funds Configuration

Set up a Special Fund application, including applicant visibility options and additional requirement questions in place of qualifications.

This article covers configuring a Special Fund application. For creating the scholarship it is built on, see Creating a Scholarship.

To configure a Special Fund Application, you will first need to create a new scholarship. Click here for instructions on adding a new scholarship. Designate the new scholarship as a Special Fund by checking the box under the Application Dates section.

The New Scholarship form with Scholarships highlighted in the left navigation and the Special Fund checkbox highlighted under Application Dates.

Afterward, you can proceed with the following steps to customize it to your needs.

Note: Special Fund Applications do not support pre-application qualifications or eligibility settings. If you need applicants to meet specific criteria, you cannot enforce those as gate requirements for SFAs.

Visibility tab

Select the desired applicant visibility from the drop-down menu:

The Visibility tab with the applicant visibility drop-down open, showing the Everyone, Everyone - Code Required and Selected Applicants options.

Everyone—allow all applicants to see the application on their dashboard by default.

Everyone - Code Required—allow applicants access via their dashboard only if they have a special code (given by an administrator, faculty member, guidance counselor, etc.). This code is set when visibility is selected (the code is case sensitive).

Selected Applicants—allows an administrator to grant visibility to an individual on an as-needed basis. When choosing this type of visibility, you'll need to search for and select applicants from the drop-down menu (you can add additional students at any time).

Visibility Settings with Selected Applicants chosen, the Search for Applicants field boxed, and three applicants already on the saved list.

All students added to the selected applicants list will appear under the drop-down menu.

To remove an applicant from the selected applicant list, click the trash icon next to the applicant's name.

The Visibility section with Selected Applicants chosen and three applicants listed, the trash icon on the first row boxed; it removes that applicant.

Additional Requirements tab

Under Special Funds Application Questions, click Add Question.

Since SFAs cannot enforce qualifications, the Additional Requirements section allows you to gather eligibility-related information through applicant responses, which can be reviewed during the award process.

To reuse a question from the general application, click the question search box to find an application question and select it (this means the question is shared, including the student's answer).

Shared questions have an info icon in their title bar and will not be editable on this screen.

If you'd like to create a new question that is unique to the Special Fund application that you're configuring, simply click the Add Question button and choose any of the available question types (for an explanation of each type, see Configuring Application Questions).
