This article covers configuring a scholarship qualification and reusing it on other scholarships. For how qualification groups work, see Qualification Groups.
Configuring Qualifications
The following example adds a minimum 3.0 GPA qualification to a scholarship. Configure the application question used for a qualification on the Application page; it appears on the application. After applications close, the Qualifications page is view-only.
Important: Open-ended (text) questions cannot be used as qualifications. The Application question list includes Single Select, Multiple Select, and numeric questions, and the Budget Calculator question.
In the main navigation, click Scholarships and open the scholarship.
Click Qualifications in the scholarship menu.
Click Add Qualification. If the scholarship has Qualification Groups, click Add Qualification in the group to use (in this example, Group 1).
Click the Application question field, then use the Search box to find the question (for example, type GPA and select College GPA).
In the Qualification title field, enter the eligibility requirement as applicants will understand it (for example, “Minimum 3.0 GPA”).
Set the requirement based on the question type. For numeric questions, choose an operator in the Requirement field (for example, is greater than or equal to) and enter the qualifying value (for example, 3.0). For Single Select and Multiple Select questions, choose the qualifying answers in the fields below the title, such as Applicant’s answer can be any of these.
Click Save at the bottom of the page. If the scholarship has applicants, a confirmation asks to re-evaluate them; click Save and re-evaluate.
The qualification then appears in its group on the Qualifications page.
Note: Qualification Groups, which hold multiple sets of criteria on one scholarship, are available to Pro and Enterprise customers only. An applicant must meet every qualification in at least one group to qualify.
Updating and Deleting Qualifications
To update a qualification, click the arrow at the right of its row, change the criteria, and click Save. Saving re-evaluates every current applicant against the new criteria; click Save and re-evaluate to confirm.
To delete a qualification, expand it, click Delete, and click Save. Multiple qualifications can be created, updated or deleted before a single Save.
Adding a Qualification for a New Question
A qualification evaluates an application question, so the application must include a question for the requirement. The following example creates a Single Select question, “Have you completed FAFSA?”, and qualifies on it. See Configuring Application Questions.
Note: Modifying the application after the application start date may change applicant responses or affect application completeness.
In the main navigation, click Application.
Open the section where the question should appear, scroll to Create Question, and click Single Select.
Enter the question text, click Add Option to add Yes and No, and click Save.
Open the scholarship’s Qualifications page and click Add Qualification (in Group 1 if the scholarship has groups).
Select the new question in the Application question field, enter a Qualification title, and choose Yes as the qualifying answer.
Click Save.
Tip: Qualifications can be reused across scholarships, so create questions that serve more than one. When several scholarships are limited by major, one Major question with a list of majors is more flexible than a separate yes/no question for each major.
Separate yes/no questions
Nursing Clinical Excellence Award: yes/no question for Nursing majors. Qualifying answer = Yes
Future Educators Scholarship: yes/no question for Education majors. Qualifying answer = Yes
One shared question
Nursing Clinical Excellence Award: Major. Qualifying answer = Nursing
Future Educators Scholarship: Major. Qualifying answer = Education
STEM Excellence Scholarship: Major. Qualifying answers = Biochemistry, Data Science, Environmental Engineering, Robotics
Re-using Qualifications
You can use an application question as a qualification for any number of scholarships. Each scholarship keeps its own title and requirements.
For example, the Future Educators Scholarship and the STEM Excellence Scholarship both use College GPA, with minimum values of 3.0 and 3.5.
