A refreshed admin experience, a unified Emails page, and a redesigned Task Board with a new drag-and-drop board view.

What's New in AwardSpring

A fresh new look, all your email in one place, and tasks that follow your work. This release brings a refreshed admin experience, a unified Emails page, and a redesigned Task Board with a new drag-and-drop board view.

#1: A refreshed admin look

We've given the admin app a visual refresh. You'll notice a redesigned logo bar and left navigation, cleaner page titles in a new typeface, and a more focused, less cluttered workspace. This is a look-and-feel update: your navigation, links, and permissions all work exactly as they did before. We also removed the footer from admin pages so your content runs cleanly to the bottom of the screen (the footer is unchanged for students, reviewers, recommenders, and donors).

#2: Emails Hub: all your email in one place

Email just got a whole lot simpler. We've pulled the six scattered email screens (compose, template library, template editor, settings, automated notifications, and scheduled emails) into a single Emails page with five tabs. Compose is front and center, and every tab has its own link so you can bookmark or share exactly the view you want.

Compose your message

Pick recipients, choose a reply-to address, start from a template, and write your subject and message with a full editor: formatting, links, images, merge variables, spellcheck, and AI-assist. A live preview shows how your message looks with a real recipient's information filled in. When you're ready, Send now or Schedule for later.

  • Recipients: search by name or email, add whole distribution lists, or paste a big list of addresses at once. Invalid addresses are flagged right away.

  • Send or schedule: the send button is only active once you have valid recipients and a subject.

Quick compose from anywhere

Need to fire off a fast message? Click New email to open a small compose window docked in the corner, similar to Gmail. Write and send without leaving the tab you're on, or expand it into the full Compose workspace if the message grows.

Templates

Browse, create, and edit your email templates in one gallery, grouped by audience (Students, Donors, Reviewers). Each template card shows who created and last changed it. System templates are protected from deletion; your own templates are yours to edit or remove.

Scheduled Emails

Your scheduled emails are now a proper list (no more cramped sidebar) with friendly dates like "Today 2:30 PM" or "Tomorrow." Open any one to edit, reschedule, or cancel it.

Auto Notifications & Settings

Manage your automated emails (like incomplete-application reminders) right from the hub, and handle your email settings inline: your sending name, outgoing and reply addresses, your BCC address with one-click copy, and a Send test email button.

#3: Task Board: see your work where the work lives

Your tasks now follow you to the pages where you're already working, and you can manage them in whichever style fits how you work.

Tasks show up on the records they belong to

Open a scholarship, a review group, or a student, and you'll see a Tasks section right on the page showing the open work tied to that record. No jumping back to a separate list. Only tasks that are still In Progress or Pending appear, so completed work doesn't clutter the view, and you only see tasks you already have permission to see.

A new board view

Alongside the familiar list, there's now an optional board view: cards arranged in columns by status (New, In Progress, Pending, Complete). Drag a card from one column to the next to move a task forward, with no need to open it or use a dropdown. The board respects whichever tab and filters you have active, so it always matches your list. The list stays the default; switch to the board whenever you like.

A cleanup, too: admins who are assigned tasks can now be deleted properly (previously the delete appeared to work but didn't).

Smaller improvements

  • Giving Records, your way: filter, customize your columns, and use a new Add New button, and your setup is remembered for each tab.

  • Rank your awardees: on the Award & Deny page, you can now put awardees in a rank order. Simply enable that scholarship-by-scholarship on the "actions" card of the Scholarship Details page.

  • Filter scholarships by dollars: the scholarship list now lets you filter by exact Awarded and Available amounts.

  • Stewardship shortcut: start a batch of stewardship reports straight from the template row you're looking at.

  • Heads-up on stock reports: a new notice lets you know the legacy stock reports are being phased out.

  • Cleaner student experience for match-only schools: If you're a match-only school, you can ask our support team to enable a feature that will allow you to suppress the general application from the student's experience.

Notable fixes

  • Fixed: Donors now see applicant answers to additional required questions even when the answer came from a different award cycle.

  • Fixed: You can now use an institutional award as a qualification in more than one qualification group on the same scholarship.

  • Fixed: A scholarship can be reactivated again when a student was left applied to it after it was deactivated.

  • Fixed: When a student changes a qualifying answer after the deadline, they are no longer left incorrectly applied to a scholarship they no longer qualify for.

  • Fixed: Special Funds Application questions no longer get stuck with old settings when a general application question is switched between optional and required, so you can edit them again.

  • Fixed: Giving Records now shows the correct page numbers when you switch tabs, and recurring records display correctly on the last page.

  • Fixed: Instructional text set for a review group now appears to reviewers as expected.

  • Fixed: The system now prevents two users from ending up with the same email address during import.

  • Fixed: An application question no longer shows a qualification flag (and can be deactivated) when it was only used as a qualification in a past cycle.

  • Fixed: Individual donors imported without an organization no longer appear as an empty "(Donor)" entry in the soft credit dropdown.

  • Fixed: Post-Award Follow-up status in reports now reads "Complete" and "In Progress" to match the current wording, instead of the old "Closed" and "Task Action."

  • Fixed: You can now copy scholarships from a cycle even when one was imported with an open-ended custom field.

  • Fixed: The Special Funds Application Tracking report now appears in your download history when its visibility is set to Everyone.

  • Fixed: Fit Scores now generate reliably for eligible applicants.

  • Fixed: Opening Fundraising > Giving Records no longer sends certain administrators to a "page not found" screen.
