Use the Costing tab to track material and labor costs for your Products. You can manage multiple Cost Scenarios per Product to inform your production and sourcing decisions.
Navigating the Costing Tab
When you first click into the Costing Tab, you land in a blank Cost Scenario
The Scenario will have Untitled in the name field - click the text to update the name
In your left-hand navigation bar, you have the option to add new Cost Scenarios
Once you build out additional Scenarios, you navigate between them via this left-hand navigation bar
At the top of your Cost Scenario you have several options:
Click the Disable Mode button to quickly exclude/include Cost Sections or line items and see how your cost is affected
Click the Set as Default button to indicate your most current / accurate Cost Scenario
Click the 3-dot Overflow Icon to access several other options
Duplicate Scenario
Delete Scenario
Export Scenario to CSV
Use the Scenario Colorway dropdown to define the Colorway for your Scenario
Click the Add Section option to create additional Cost Sections on your Scenario
Cost Sections organize your Scenario
Click the 6-dot handle in top left corner for each Section to drag and drop into a custom order
Click the Carrot icon, also at top left of each Section, to expand or collapse the section line items
Click the Import icon at top right of each Section to pull Components from your BOM into your Scenario
Click the 3-dot Overflow Icon, also at top right of each Section, to access your Disable and Delete Section options
Your total calculated cost is at the bottom of the Scenario
Click the Add Total option at the bottom left of the to calculate and review Subtotals for certain Sections and line items (ex. See how much your Fabric and Trim sections contribute to your overall product cost, versus your Cutting Sewing and Trimming sections)
Creating a Costing Scenario
Begin by choosing the Colorway for your Scenario
If your costs are identical across Colorways, you may need only one Scenario - choose any Colorway to work off of and name the Scenario to indicate it represents all Colorways
If your Component (or labor) costs vary from Colorway to Colorway, build a Scenario for each and name them accordingly for clarity
Customize your Cost Sections as needed
The default Sections are Trim Costs, Base Material Costs and Packaging Costs
Click the default Section names to edit them
Add new Sections using the button at top right of page
Delete or disable a Section via the 3-dot Overflow Icon
Use the 6-dot handles to drag-and-drop your Cost Sections into your preferred order
Add your Component costs to your Scenario
Click the Import button at the top of any Cost Section
In the pop-up modal which appears, select applicable Components from your Bill of Materials
Note that each BOM line item can only be added once to each Cost Scenario
Hit Save and these Components all appear as line items in your Cost Section
The Consumption Quantity pulls in dynamically from your BOM
The Price pulls in dynamically from your Component Variants tab
Prices and Consumption Quantities can be overwritten if needed
An Alert Icon appears to indicate a discrepancy between the Cost Scenario and the BOM
Clicking the Alert Icon allows you to quickly update the Cost Scenario to reflect the BOM data
This Icon also appears when price/consumption details in your BOM and Component Variants tab change after creating the Cost Scenario
Add other costs factors (ex. Labor or Import Duty) to your Scenario
Leverage Sections to keep these costs organized
Click the Add Icon in the bottom row of any Section to create a new line item
This is a free-type row - you define the item name, price and quantity
Adjust each Cost Section total as needed by applying a percentage-based or dollar-based Discount, or by adding a supplemental Shipping Cost
Your Scenario Total can also be adjusted - apply a percentage-based or dollar-based Discount, add a supplemental Shipping Cost, or apply a percentage-based or dollar-based Tax rate as needed
