Best Practices: Using Custom Field Dividers

So you might be wondering what the use case for custom field dividers is. Is it actually useful? The answer is yes, it can be useful!

If you use a lot of custom fields in Backbone to keep track of everything, you can use CF Dividers to:

  • Review, enter, and consolidate data more efficiently

  • Increase your organization of data into segments or teams: Technical Design, Product Development, Merchandising, Planning, etc.

  • Improve reporting efficiency

Here are some examples we have found helpful that are organized according to various teams/roles/stages. Feel free to copy off this list (don't worry we won't tell 👀 )

  • The Dividers will be managed via Admin and displayed on Product and Component Summaries.

  • Dividers are not displayed on Tech Packs.

  • Dividers will be present in report filter drawers, report display settings drawers, and report configuration drop-downs, but not in the Item View table, Line Sheet cards, or the CU report table.

Using Custom Field Dividers:

Once you have created and organized your custom fields with dividers, you can find them in a variety of places

  1. The Summary Details within a product or component view

  2. The Create/Edit modal for products and components

  3. Within a Line Sheet report inside the Card Settings Drawer

  4. Within an Item View Report inside of the Column Settings Drawer

  5. Within a Component Utilization Report inside the Settings Drawer.

*Custom Field Dividers are not yet supported in Product / Component Library Sort View*
