  • Use this article to learn how to withdraw your 529 funds directly into your Backpack account. Hint: you need to add Backpack as a bank / financial institution on your Alaska 529 account.

Linking Backpack Account to your Alaska 529:


Adding Banking Information

  1. Log into your Alaska 529 Plan

  2. Select "Profile & Documents" from the top menu

  3. Click “Bank Information”

  4. Click "Add New Bank"

  5. Log into your Backpack account

  6. Enter your Backpack account details into the Alaska 529 Add Bank Information section. Backpack Account & Routing numbers can be found on the Backpack Dashboard or under Settings.

    1. Bank Name: [Backpack]

    2. Bank Routing Number: [Your Backpack Routing Number]

    3. Bank Account Number: [Your Backpack Account Number]

    4. Bank Account Registration: [Your Name]

    5. Bank Account Type: Select Checking


7. Submit Backpack banking information on the Alaska 529 plan

8. Receive Confirmation and wait 1 business day


Withdrawing to your Backpack Account

It’s tuition time! Let’s withdrawal funds from your 529 into your Backpack account so you can make your tuition payment.

Note: The Alaska 529 plan may place a 15-day hold on withdrawals once the Backpack bank details are added.

  1. Log into your Alaska 529 Plan

  2. Withdrawals can be requested through the Withdrawal Form. Withdrawals can be requested by phone at 1-888-425-2752.

    1. To obtain the form, click Contact US

    2. Click Go to Forms under Forms and documents

    3. Otherwise, see the Withdrawal Request Form
