Creating an account is straightforward. There are four steps you’ll need to complete to create your Backpack account.
Step 1: Mobile Number Verification
Enter your US phone number to start creating an account. We will send you a verification code to that same mobile number to verify the number is yours.
Step 2: Email Address Verification
Similar to the mobile phone verification, we will ask you for an email address and ask you to confirm the code we send to your email. It’s important we know it’s you!
Step 3: 529 Account Information
We will ask you a few questions about the 529 Plan you expect to use in connection with your Backpack account, as well as some details about the student you plan to use it for (this student needs to be the beneficiary of the 529 Plan Account).
Step 4: Identity Verification
We partner with a third party verification service called Persona to verify your identity - we need to do this for legal and regulatory reasons, but it also helps us keep your account secure!
