Backpack supports an automated withdrawal flow that makes it easy to transfer funds from your 529 account, all from within your Backpack account. To setup a withdrawal, follow these simple steps:
Steps to Withdraw 529 Funds
Click the "Add 529 Funds" Button
Begin by logging into your Backpack account and clicking the "Add 529 Funds" button on your dashboard.
Enter the Amount
Specify the amount you want to withdraw from your 529 account.
Confirm Details
Review and confirm the details for the withdrawal. Ensure all information is accurate.
Enter the Verification Code
A verification code will be sent to the phone number associated with your 529 account. Enter this code to proceed.
Withdrawal complete
You'll see a success screen confirming your withdrawal.
Note:
529 Plan legacy systems - If there is an issue during the process of linking to your 529 and initiating the withdrawal, click "Try again". If you encounter an issue when trying to withdraw, it's likely due to an issue with the 529 Plan’s legacy system. Simply try making the withdrawal again resolves most issues.
Eligibility for the Automated Feature - Please note that the automated withdrawal feature is only available for some 529 plans. If your 529 plan is not supported, you will need to manually withdraw funds by logging into your 529 account and withdrawing them to your Backpack account.
