Below we provide the stock cable lengths that come with the Bafang 500W front hub motor kits.
This information will allow you to determine whether you need extension cables for your specific bike setup:
There is 1 lead that comes out of the front hub motor assembly. The wire that comes off of the motor will simply secure to your bike's front Fork. This cable length is 8" long.
The cable that connects the Hub Motor to the Controller is 33" long.
The Controller has 4 cables as well as 4 small leads for light connections. The connections and lengths are outled below:
- The cable that connects the Controller to the Front Hub Motor is 18"
- The cable that connects the Controller to the Main Wiring Harness is 18"
- The cable that connects the Controller to the PAS Sensor is 12"
- The Anderson Battery leads that connect the Controller to the Battery are 12"
- The Headlight Leads are 2"
The PAS Sensor lead is 32". This connects the Controller to the PAS Sensor CablePAS Sensor Cable. As described above the PAS Sensor lead from the Controller is 12". Therefore the stock cables that come with the motor kit provide you with a total of 44" inches from the PAS Sensor to the Controller.
The Main Wiring Harness Cable is a separate cable that connects to the Main Wiring Harness Lead coming from the motor (18" inches as described above) to the handlebar components (display, brake levers, and throttle). This Main Wiring Harness Cable is a total length of approximately 41 inches. This Main Wiring Harness Cable (41 inches) connects to one of the Controller leads (18" inches). Therefore the stock cables that come with the motor kit provide you with a total distance of 59 inches from the motor to the display cable, throttle cable, and brake lever cables.
The cables that come from the Bafang Mechanical Ebrakes are approximately 6.5 inches. These cables connect to the Main Wiring Harness.
The cable that comes from the Throttle is approximately 6.5 inches. This cable connects to the Main Wiring Harness.
The cable that comes from the LCD Display is approximately 8 inches. This cable connects to the Main Wiring Harness.
The leads that come from our batteries are approximately 11 inches. The battery leads to connect to leads coming from straight from the motor (12-inches leads). Thus the stock cables that come with the kit provide you with a total distance of 23 inches from the battery to the motor.
You can always order extensions if you realize you need them after you begin the install process!
