Hey there! π
Are you looking for information about how to figure out if our ebike motor kits will work with your Recumbent Bike? If so, you are in the right place and we are going to provide you with some important information to consider related to electrifying your bike type! π
Somethings to note specifically about ebike conversions on Recumbent Bikes:
Our kits are designed to work on standard bikes and while recumbent bikes are in fact still bikes, they are about as far from standard bikes as it gets! With this in mind, our motor kits often work on a vast majority of recumbent bikes however the installation will require more time, preparation, and creativity in order to complete. In order to hopefully help you identify some of these recumbent installation pitfalls we have outlined a few things to be mindful of below:
Recumbent bikes are often much more extended and spread out than standard bikes with the motor located further out in front and away from the rider. As a result of this, recumbent bikes often require extension cables for just about every cable coming from the kit in order to be able to reach the locations for installation on a recumbent bike. We have provided a link to our article with more information on the cable lengths coming from our motors so that you can measure and plan accordingly! π
Recumbent bikes can also be a bit more difficult to install a battery on depending on the design and water bottle mount bolt hole locations.
Depending on the steering design for the recumbent bike, mounting the items which are designed to be mounted on a standard bike can be difficult to mount on a recumbent bike and can require creativity (this includes the display, throttle & brake levers).
