Hey there! πŸ‘‹

Are you looking for information about how to figure out if our ebike motor kits will work with your Tandem? If so, you are in the right place and we are going to provide you with some important information to consider related to electrifying your bike type! πŸŽ‰

Somethings to note specifically about ebike conversions on Tandem Bikes:

While tandem bikes look like an elongated two-person version of a regular bike, looks can be deceiving and in function, they operate completely different, so we have outlined a few things to be mindful of below:

  • Our Mid Drive motors are not designed or intended to be used or installed on a tandem bike. Mid Drive motors are only designed to operate in a specific way on a single-person standard bike, and they are not able to be used on a tandem bike with multiple bottom brackets with interconnected chains and cranks.

  • Our front hub motor may be able to work with a tandem bike, however the motor is not designed for the additional rider load and if you decided to use the front hub motor with a tandem bike we recommend removing the throttle functionality in order to try and prevent overloading the motor based on the additional load. Unfortunately, as this is a more custom installation which can cause issues and complications as well as overload the motor, we are unable to warranty and provide support for our motors when used on tandem bikes.

We recommend starting by taking our Step-By-Step Bike Compatibility Quiz in order to determine the fitment and compatibility of our motor kits and batteries on your specific bike! And guess what?! Our Bike Compatibility Quiz includes engaging how-to videos along with printable templates for your ease and convenience πŸ₯³
