How do I run the Patient Aging Report in Barti?

Go to Billing → Reports, select Patient Aging from the dropdown, and choose Patient + Insurance or Patient Only to see outstanding balances grouped by how long they've been owed.

Who this is for: All Barti users who track outstanding patient balances.

Before you start, you'll need:

  • A Barti account with access to Billing

Steps

  1. Navigate to Billing → Reports.

  2. Select Patient Aging from the dropdown in the top-right corner.

  3. Use the filter options to choose a view:

    • Patient + Insurance — shows balances owed by both the patient and their insurance.

    • Patient Only — shows patient-responsibility balances only.

  4. If applicable, filter by Location.

  5. Sort the report by patient name, current amount owed, days owed, or total — click the arrow next to any column header to sort ascending or descending.

  6. To dig into a specific patient, double-click their name to open their Patient Profile and review their invoices.

  7. To save or share the report, click Download CSV.

What you'll see when it works

The report lists patients with outstanding balances, grouped into four aging buckets:

  • Current — 30 days or less

  • 31–60 days

  • 61–90 days

  • Over 90 days

Use the sort feature to prioritize which accounts to address first.

Troubleshooting

When will a patient drop off the aging report?

When their invoice no longer has any remaining balance — either because it's been paid in full, written off, or adjusted to zero.

Why can't I filter the Patient Aging Report by payer alone?

AR reports currently don't support filtering by payer. To review a specific payer's patients, filter by Patient + Insurance and use the sort and download options to work with the data in a spreadsheet.

How do I prioritize which accounts to work first?

Sort by the Over 90 days column descending to surface the oldest, highest-balance accounts first.
