Background

Taking advantage of your filters and sorts will help you clean up your board. This way, you'll only view the most important projects for your company.

Filters

To create a filter, just press the filter button in the top right. This button is available in any view except for contacts. There are two tabs under filters, they are custom filters and quick filters.

Quick Filters

Quick filters allow you to quickly search through bids that meet the right criteria. To access them, click the quick filters button in the filters dialogue box. From here, just check the boxes that you want. If you want to only see bids that are undecided, for example, just check the undecided box.

Custom Filters

Custom filters are filters that you plan to use more than once and therefore are saved in BasisBoard. They are more advanced to set up.

Here's how to create one:

1. Click on 'Create new filter' at the bottom of the filter dialogue box.

2. Pick a name and visibility for your filter. If its a filter that you feel others at your company could benefit from having access to, pick 'shared.' If its just for you, pick 'private'.

3. Then, set up the where section to your parameters. If you need to only see bids that have a due date, the boxes should be 'bid', 'due date', and 'is not empty'. The first box is what object is important (either the bid or the company on the bid), the second box is the field of that object, and the third and fourth boxes are the requirements. You can read out the boxes to tell what is being checked, for example, 'Bid', 'name', 'contains', 'South'.

4. Finally, click the 'add condition' button to add more parameters and repeat step three for each parameter. If you want to show all of the bids that meet any of the parameters, select 'or' in the boxes between each parameter. If you want only the bids that meet all of the conditions, select 'and'.

Here's an example where I created a filter that only shows bids that have the word 'South' in their title.

Sorting

Sorting is available in list and board views. Sorting is done with the button that shows an upwards and downwards facing triangle.

In the list view, you can sort by a certain field, say bid due date, by clicking this button. To change order, click it again. To disable sorting by that field, click it until neither arrow is blue.

In the board view, you can sort by due date through the sorting widget. It is located at the top right of the window, right by the filter button.
