Global VideoJS player settings of Video Time

The global VideoJS player settings of Video Time explained

Updated over 2 months ago

This section contains all the settings available in the embed options for videos embedded with the VideoJS player with the Video Time activity.

As an administrator, you can define default values, force settings, and mark settings as advanced. Default settings apply only to newly created activities.

You can find this section under Site administration > Plugins > Activity modules > Video Time > Video Time VideoJS Player.

Global defaults help enforce consistency and simplify the setup for course creators.

Default settings

  • Autoplay

Automatically start playback of the video.
Autoplay usually requires mute to be enabled and may not work in some browsers or on devices that block autoplay behavior.

  • Responsive

The video player automatically adapts to the page or screen size.
When this setting is enabled, height and width cannot be set manually.

  • Height

Set the video player's fixed height (in pixels).

  • Width

Set the video player's fixed width (in pixels).

  • Controls

Show or hide player controls. If disabled, all UI controls (play, pause) will be hidden.
When hidden, the video requires autoplay, keyboard controls, or a player SDK to start.

  • Loop

The video restarts automatically when it finishes.

  • Muted

The video starts with the audio muted.

  • Plays inline

Allow inline playback on mobile devices. If disabled, the video will enter full-screen mode on play.

  • Speed

Displays speed controls in the player’s control bar, allowing users to adjust the playback speed. Also enables the playback rate API (Pro only).

  • Default audio image

Upload a fallback image to display when an audio file is used and no poster image is set in the embed options.
Accepted formats: .webp, .gif, .jpg, .png, .svg, .tiff

If no image is provided for audio-only content, it is recommended to set the player's height and width to 30 × 400 pixels.

Forced settings

Lock specific settings so they cannot be changed at the activity level.
Forced settings apply site-wide to all Video Time activities.

If a forced setting is later released, the affected activity will revert to its original configuration for that setting.

Advanced settings

Mark settings as advanced to hide them by default in the activity embed options. Users must click “Show more...” to access them.
