How plugin compatibility is handled for Moodle releases

How we handle plugin compatibility updates for new Moodle version.

Updated over 3 weeks ago

We always check and update plugin compatibility as part of our regular feature releases. For actively developed plugins, this process usually happens quickly. For plugins that are not in an active release cycle at the time, compatibility updates can take longer.

There is no fixed guarantee for how soon after a Moodle release a plugin will be tested and approved for compatibility. However, if compatibility with a specific Moodle version is particularly important for you, you can request that we prioritize it.

Sometimes plugins work right away with the new Moodle version without requiring any changes. You can also test compatibility yourself, and we are happy if you share your feedback with us.

We generally support our plugins for the two most recent Moodle releases, and always for the latest Long Term Support (LTS) release. This provides a reference for which Moodle versions are usually covered, but it is not a guarantee.
