The first step is to obtain the drug identification number (DIN) or vaccine identification number (VIN) and ask your carrier if this is covered:

Co-operators 1-800-667-8164
Green Shield 1-888-711-1119

You can also refer to your coverage Booklet for specifics of any vaccinations that may be covered under by your plan under the section  "Prescription Drug Limitations".

Generally fees for administration of any injectable drugs, such as vaccines, vitamins, serums, insulin and allergy extras are not eligible under the plan, unless they are specifically noted to have coverage.

There may be some specialty drugs or injections that are covered, and in this case, you would require prior written authorization from your insurer before you receive the treatment.

Flu shots, routine childhood immunizations, and rabies vaccine are covered under OHIP.

Ontario Health Insurance does not cover most travel vaccinations.
