If you are Out of the Country and have a medical emergency, seek medical care immediately.

Should the nature of your medical emergency be non-life threatening,  call your insurer as soon as possible and notify them of your medical situation so that they can open a file.  Not only will they start the claim, but they will be a resource to let you know if the hospital or doctor you are seeing is the best option for medical care in the area.

Never leave the hospital without making contact with your insurer.  As international medical assistance is handled differently in each country, your insurers will be knowledgeable about  the invoice you receive, and will be able to advise if it is billed at a "reasonable and customary" rate for the services provided and relevant for that Country's medical billing standards.

Failure to take these steps may cause issues with your claim, and may cause your claim to be declined by the insurer.

The toll free number for your Out of Country medical assistance is listed on your drug card, and there is assistance available 24/7.
