When a plan administrator is only allowed to see employees of a specific division(s), we use the 'Teams' feature

Some companies (plan sponsors) may have multiple divisions and plan administrators (PAs) who are allowed to some employees but not others.

For example, if Ramsey's Bike Shop also owns Mark's Bike Repair, and Ramsey wants to delegate login access to Mark, but Ramsey doesn't want Mark to see Ramsey's direct employees, you can ask service@beneplan.ca to set up two divisions: Division 001 and Division 002.

Let's also assume that Mark should not see any reports that include any employee in Division 001, such as a billing or census.

Here's how that would work:

  1. Tell your Beneplan rep that you would like to restrict which divisions a PA can see

  2. Be clear on who they can see (Can see Div 002 but not Div 001)

  3. Your rep will ensure a 'Team' will be created, with a 'Team Manager' who is the PA

Please make sure you report any changes in ownership ASAP, especially ones that impact view.

For example, if Ramsey sold Mark's Bike Repair to Happy Motors Inc, and the new owners of Happy Motors want to make sure that Ramsey can't see Mark's employees, these are the steps we would take:

  1. Create a new plan sponsor: Happy Motors Inc (001 of a new policy)

  2. Create a division within Happy Motors Inc (002 - Mark's Bike Repair)

  3. Terminate the employees under Ramsey's Bike Shop - Division 002.

Finally, maybe Happy Motors Inc has a subsidiary in Mexico and a manager there who oversees Mark's Bike Repair. The manager in Mexico doesn't use the Canadian benefit plan, but needs to be able to see just the employees in Division 002.

Therefore, your rep would create a new record that is a plan member set to Inactive status (so that no drug card would be produced). They would be assigned the Manager of Division 002 (Team 2) and when they log in, can only see those employees -- not the entire Happy Motors 001 team.
