What is an Email Alias?
In the context of Google Workspace, an alias is essentially a forwarding rule. It allows you to receive emails sent to another email address, without needing to create a separate account. For example, if your primary email is jane.doe@company.com, you could have an alias like support@company.com. Emails sent to the alias are forwarded to your primary inbox.
Aliases and Send From Accounts on Betterleap
At Betterleap, we understand the need for efficiency and organization in email management. However, it's important to note the distinction between regular accounts and aliases in the Google Workspace and how they interact with Betterleap.
Key Differences:
Google Workspace Aliases:
Function as forwarding rules
Do not have independent inboxes
Forward emails to the primary account's inbox
Betterleap Send From Accounts:
Require a unique, actual seat within the Google workspace
Have their own inboxes and settings
Allow sending and receiving emails independently
How to Connect your Email Account to Betterleap
To send emails from a Google account through Betterleap:
Add a Seat on Google: The email account must be an actual seat within your Google Workspace.
Add your email account in Settings: Once it's a seat, you can add this email address from the Settings page
Send Emails: After setup, you can send emails from this email address through Betterleap.
Can I Use an Alias with Betterleap?
It's important to understand that you cannot add an alias directly on Betterleap as a 'send from' account. Since aliases are not independent accounts but rather forwarding rules, they lack the necessary configuration to be recognized as separate sending accounts in Betterleap.
